| The Cure – Close to Me Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I think its definitely about that state of hysteria. But it can also work in another way other than the action of sex. In the music video the band is literally in a closet. It could be about somebody comming out of 'the closet' stating they are gay. At the end they fall and the water breaks through the closet so what they are getting close to is coming video. But maybe thats just another example of music videos ruining an interpretation of song. But its beautiful when you think about it as sex. |

a.)I have read that this song was written as a satire to those scholars who try to dissect The Beatles Songs. b.)I believe that the meanings have either come from laid back gibberish or memories. c.)This song is my religion. I am a follower, yes. |

Boy Likes Girl.Girl doesnt know about guy. Guy is emotionally insecure and feels inferior and worthless to human being in general. Boy sees something in this woman that he wishes he could see in himself. Its a deeply neurotic song which is why I feel it isnt overrated. He just feels like he doesnt belong and she will run away from him like everything/one else. I understand this feeling. |

I have read somewhere that they had a problem with it coming out in the record studio because the imagery strongly sounded as though implying lesbianism. Maybe they were wrong. |

| The White Stripes – You're Pretty Good Looking (For a Girl) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
"your eyes are wide open but your thoughts have been stolen by the boys" This could mean that she is a very intelligent woman but men dont like that and so they try to make her seem less competent than she really is or they just treat her like she is. Also they shower her with their love for her looks with material things and she has lived a life of luxury taken over by men rather herself. And I highly doubt 'your back is so broken" means that she has been pregnant a few times. I again DONT KNOW but I think it means that she has just been through a lot with men. "to that thought is sounding so absurd and I don't wanna" Jack wants her even though thousands of other men do to in his eyes so he feels like he is in the bandwagon. When he says "Your Pretty Good Looking For A Girl" I think he is maybe sick of girls who get everything they want because mostly of looks and hes not impressed with that. I feel this because in a lot of his other songs particularly "Its Hard To Be a Gentleman" he talks about how he thinks all women "need help climbing up a tree". So it sort of has a satirical meaning towards girls in general. |

Yes indeed I always thought that he was referring to Worhal in all of those parts. Yes. I really think he was referring to Andy Worhal in the Chrome Horse and Diplomat part. Not only because this story is very much like Edie's but also because he didnt have a liking for Worhal. Worhal apparently video-taped Dylan when he was picking up Edie and in return. Dylan stole one of his paintings and used it as a dart board! Also Edie came from a rich rich family. I would also like to ad that being an 'unknown' was obviously a big deal to one of Andy's 'superstars' so it MUST have been written for someone such as her celebrity status at one point. So this is more about Worhal than Edie really because you can see his dislike towards Worhal and how he acts as though going to him must have made her seemed so destitute (which I wont doubt she was). |

Yes its about Mercury facing himself being 'gay'. He is speaking to his mother because his mother is religious at leas tin the song and hes telling her that he killed the son she thought she knew and accepted and he is in fact gay. "Anyway the wind blows doesnt really matter to me" The way the wind blows is a sign of where to go, but Mercury doesnt know where to go, clearly. Its not about death! He woudnt have said he was gone to 'face the truth' then/he would have said to face fate. But he felt being gay was the truth and he was trying to tell his mom this who may have shunned being gay. Mecury has said before that the middle is a bunch of rhyming gibberish but I dont know about that 100%. Bismillah! This emans like a compassionate and kind God. I think this middle part is the inner struggle in his mind about being gay. He was brought up to think its wrong but he also feels his "time has come" to "face the truth". Beelzibub The devil. I dont know who hes telling to get out of here to. It could be God. It could also very well be the Devil. |

This is just the most beautiful love song ever written because in my interpretation of it, it goes beyond human measure. I can only wish when Im older (im 16) love can show me something as beautiful so I could write a poem as amazing as this. The first two verses describes his interpretation of Sara basically and history of her which only he and her would know. The chorus I think means: Sad-eyed lady of the lowlands, (Sara whos eyes vessel her past with very low times) Where the sad-eyed prophet says that no man comes, (The prophet could be Dylan) My warehouse eyes, my Arabian drums, (His warehouse eyes Im not sure but I think his Arabian Drums are meant a material possession he owns which has something to do with HIM as he is musically inclined.) Should I leave them by your gate, (I believe this now means that he will leave himself at her gate. He seeks to give her gifts in heaven. Basically he wants to see her in heaven when the time comes) Verse Three: The kings of Tyrus with their convict list Are waiting in line for their geranium kiss, (king Tyre resembled Vanity. He like most kings resembled wealth, perfection in materialist things. Dylan is implying Sara's beauty is wanted. But then he goes on to describe how they want her beauty but not another part of her. When he makes reference to her mothers drugs and so on this must be a reference to her childhood and paste life, which makes her a very sad woman that no man would want to necessarily be with in that angle except for Dylan) They wished you'd accepted the blame for the farm, (Sara must have got lured into a lot of 'stuff' and the people all tried to make her feel ashamed of herself) Hoodlum child and Magazine husband refers to Saras husband and child. bob Dylan like many poets also like to use words which describe something else and put them into another meaning. So there is a lot that would be unknown. |
