I love the God part. Because that's the only way this song makes sense. =] |

| Also, greenasanthony, sin is forgivable, yes, but God's forgiveness isn't a stamp of approval. Repenting of sin (which is what has to be done to be forgiven) means turning from that sin and no longer taking part in it. | |

I love Emery, but I feel like this song is saying sinning as a Christian is OK, and we don't have to help our brothers and sisters to see their sin. I dunno. The bible tells us to judge followers. Not judge in way of being a jerk and acting pious. But judge in a sense of bringing our brothers and sisters sin to light so they can see it too and repent and turn back to God. See it says it in 1 Corinthian 5:12-13, "It isn’t my responsibility to judge outsiders, but it certainly is your responsibility to judge those inside the church who are sinning. God will judge those on the outside; but as the Scriptures say, “You must remove the evil person from among you.” It's our responsibility to judge those sinning inside the church. See? So we need to bring to light Gary's alcoholism, Sarah's stealing, Aaron's lying, Jessica's slander, Laura's adultery, etc. Just saying it's ok, Jesus loves you isn't enough. Sin is not okay, and yes Jesus loves you but He HATES your sin. Sin is not okay. It separates us from God. Why would you ever want someone you love to be far from God? And please no arguing, that's not what was meant by this. If you argue, you're just arguing against the Bible. the scripture's right there.. =/ |

| I know someone's going to comment about how this is Aaron becoming Muslim, or something of the sort. It's not. It's just the Arab word for God. An Arab Christian would call God Allah. Just thought I'd clear that up. | |

OH! I almost forgot... "I still stand here waiting, with my eyes fixed on the road, and I fight back tears and I wonder, if you're ever coming home, don't you know son that I love you, and I don't care where you've been, yes and i'll be right here waiting, 'til you come around the bend, and I run to you and hold you close, won't let go again, so please come home," Best part of the song. G-d is good. ;] |

| This song actually IS about the story of the prodigal son in the Bible. It's sung in the father's perspective. In that case, it's a beautiful picture of G-d's love for us. ;] | |

Love this song, seriously. "it takes a steady hand to navigate adulterous waters" "but a few leagues off the shore, I bit a flashing lure and I assure you, it was not what it expected it to be! I still taste its kiss, that dull hook in my lip is a memory as useless as a rod without a reel" "if ever you come near I'll hold up high a mirror Lord, I could never show you anything as beautiful as you " These are amazing lyrics. |

| No, it's adulterous. | |

| I agree. The statement he made in Arabic is USUALLY accompanied by the arabic statement 'muhammad is god's messenger', but here he left that out. | |

I'm gonna take it bit by bit and let you guys know what I think it means/what this song means to me! Enjoy. =] "Take this breath in my chest. I crave death and nothing less. Slit my throat 'cuz I'm better off dead. My life has been wasted." -I think right here he's like, I've really messed this all up, I've sinned big time, I don't think I can be forgiven this time around, and there's really no point to living anymore because my life has been wasted by my dishonor to God. "Keep me around as if I had a purpose. I'm speaking out and proving that your wrong. The sweetest sound is when your voice is distant. I'm wanting out if that means taking you on." -Here he's like, my sin has turned into my lifestyle. He's not caring about it anymore, and he thinks it's easier to just be in rebellion and not worry about God. He's fully living in sin at this point, and speaking out against God. "I've seen your breath written on these pages. You have bled for animals in cages. Was I given straw to build this house? Tell me why the hell did my walls all fall down?" -He's saying here that he's seen the glory of God and realness of God. The line, "You have bled for animals in cages" is referring to the crucifixion. And he's noting what God has done for him. I think here he's starting to realize who God is and what he is to God. The end, about the straw to build this house is referring to how he feels he's too weak to fight the good fight. That he can't survive the battle against sin, and he's feeling the guilt of what he did, thus the line "why did my walls fall down". I also think the "why the hell" is put in place to emphasis his state of hopelessness and desperation. "Keep me around as if I had a purpose. I'm speaking out and proving that your wrong. The sweetest sound is when your voice is distant I'm wanting out if that means taking you on, and now I'm taking off your crown." -Chorus again, haha. "Take these hands and turn them into weapons. Change these plans and make them into your's. Take this man and turn his sight from demons. All I am is wanting you more." -Here he's recommitting his whole self to God. He's saying, I'm in this, I just want more of you. It's like he's done trying to fix himself, and he's going to let God fix him instead. He wants God's will, and not his own. And he wants the fight against sin to be won, he doesn't want worldly things anymore, thus the line, "turn his sight from demons". "Now I see what's been hidden inside of me. I'll never question you again." -Here he's concluding with the fact that he finally see's God for who He is, and he see's what God has done in him. He's able to focus on God now and not the sin, and he has made the covenant to never question God again. It's like he's saying, no matter how hard, rough, or messy this gets, I'm in it for Your Glory, God. He's saying he won't question or give up on God again. I super relate to this because it's pretty much the story of my life last year. I almost walked away, then threw my hands up, leaned on God, and made the commitment that regardless of how bad it got I would never walk away from Him. Hope you get something out of this song, because I definitely did. -Katie |
