Nina Simone – You Can Have Him Lyrics 16 years ago
I can't tell if this song is ironic or not- is she still in love with him, and she's listing the things she'll miss out on since he's left? Or are darning his socks, etc, things she actually realized she doesn't want to do?

Nina Simone – I Hold No Grudge Lyrics 16 years ago
After my first love broke my heart, my aunt told me one thing- you can eventually forgive, but you never forget. ^That's exactly what this song is about.

Pink Martini – Dansez-vous Lyrics 16 years ago
I have an enormous heart
that completely runs my life.
I can give you a little of my heart,
but first, you must dance.

Do you dance? Do you dance?
Do you dance? Do you dance?
Do you dance? Do you dance?
Do you dance? Do you dance?

If you don't dance for me,
how can I know who you are?
If you don't dance for me,
how can I know what we will be?

Do you dance? Do you dance?
Do you dance? Do you dance?
Do you dance? Do you dance?
Do you dance? Do you dance?

What will you do when I move there?
What will you do when I move here?
Where will you go when I make a step?
Backwards or forwards?

Let's dance together in rhythm, we are one
Let's dance together in rhythm, we are one
Let's dance together, we are one
Let's dance together in rhythm, we are one

* I thought it was kind of interesting that the whole song is sung to a 'vous'- the formal you, not 'tu', the informal you. I wonder what that means?

Pink Martini – Aspettami Lyrics 16 years ago
Why hasn't anyone commented yet? This song is so beautiful!

It reminds me of two things- my ex-boyfriend, but that's just a personal interpretation. :) And Penelope and Odysseus. Odysseus was lost at sea for ten years, and Penelope waited for him for all of those years. This song is almost like him promising her that he'll return to her, no matter what. So romantic!

Pink Martini – Autrefois Lyrics 16 years ago
I write sweet notes to all of the girls of France
I hope they reply
I swore I would be happy before the end of the year.
I write sweet notes to all of the girls of France
Every day and every night
But by the end of the year, I'm still alone in my bed.

Nobody misses me
But it's alright;
I've already had a good time.
A good time, in the past.

I think of her with much sadness
When the moon is full.
What party, what dance, and what song is going on without me?
The evening begins like an old song, but I can't sing;
I forgot the melody years ago.

Nobody misses me
But it's alright;
I've already had a good time.
A good time, in the past.

I've already had a good time.
A good time, in the past.
