| The Auteurs – Unsolved Child Murder Lyrics | 9 years ago |
|
Pretty sure the lyrics in the first verse are... ...Since they dragged the lake you know they sealed our fate cordoned off some woodland, gave a photo to a psychic Presumed Dead Unsolved Child Murder |

| @[screaming_monkey:18209] Reading this comment 15 years later... I wish they had become huge, but at least the Christmas reunion gigs are still going strong! | |

| Idlewild – 4 People Do Good Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
You can't always be the strange one I spent a year without a hope, forlorn Fighting yourself into it If you don't wanna stay Don't add to the lie You'll be better off that way I've got no motives 4 people do good 4 people do good I've got no motives 4 people do good 4 people do good I know, I know, I know I know, I know, I know, you see me dancing So, you stand there, you stand there You watch in wonder If he's wondering about the star If he's a wonder away Don't make him stay If he doesn't want to stay So you'll never be alone Hey I've got no motives 4 people do good 4 people do good I've got no motives 4 people do good 4 people do good |

| Metallica – Battery Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| It's not that kind of battery. obviously. It's battery as in 'assault & battery'. Have you considered reading the lyrics? | |
| Idlewild – City Hall Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| Definitely agree with the wedding reference, it's instantly what I thought of when I heard the song. I'm fairly sure that it's a safe bet that it's about a wedding to be honest. | |
| Yuck – Rubber Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| Thank God he's saying "painting", I thought he was saying "penis", I like this song a lot more now that I know this. | |
| Baader Meinhof – There's gonna be an accident Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| Also, it's "Money's all BEEN spent" | |
| Baader Meinhof – There's gonna be an accident Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| I'm pretty sure that "Tuesday to Saturday" is wrong, the line is "Dues day is Saturday", which makes sense cause on Friday he needs to rob a bank to pay the dues on Saturday | |
| Idlewild – Chandelier Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| If you read between the lines here, it all becomes clear. Basically the message in the song is simple; if you want to wear the punk overcoat, first you have to put it on. Now, a lot of people might think that the message in the song doesn't really need to be said, as most people who are considering to wear an overcoat (or any other garment for that matter) will automatically realise that they have to put it on in order to wear it, but things aren't that simple in the world of Woomble. | |
| Idlewild – Not Just Sometimes But Always Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
It is DEFINITELY "an elegy in disguise", it's actually one of the more obvious lyrics in the song. Also, this line is wrong: "I'm suddenly an empty house that almost fills up with home" The line actually is: "And suddenly an empty house, it almost fills up with home" "I was born the same day that you died..." Possibly about a woman dying during childbirth and the child growing up with this burden hanging over him. |

| Bloc Party – Hunting for Witches Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Ok guys, I'm a big Bloc Party fan, but let's be serious for a moment, I can understand that you guys are trying to defend a band that you like by saying they have good lyrics, but no matter what spin you put on it or how much you try to stretch the truth, they still are very weak lyrically and always have been. They are a good band but come on guys, grow up and have a serious discussion about music instead of just saying that they have good lyrics when it's clear that they don't... you are only fooling yourselves. | |
| Bloc Party – Song for Clay (Disappear Here) Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Easton Ellis is probably my favourite contemporary writer and has been for maybe the past ten years or so, this book can also be kind of related to Lunar Park, as the author relives stories of his past, 'Disappear Here' is mentioned numerous times throughout the novel and obviously the freeway reference too, however I'm not sure if Kele has read that one. If you haven't already, check out the sequel to Less Than Zero, 'Imperial Bedrooms'. | |

| The lyrics are definitely "cold is the night" | |
| Fatboy Slim – The Rockafeller Skank Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| It's called 'a joke', you troglodyte! | |
| Fatboy Slim – The Rockafeller Skank Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
"Then this song came on–I will never forget it–it was called "The Funk Soul Brother." And I will always remember that because it was also all of the lyrics... and, er, it was that school of songwriting, you know, very easy on the words in case they get wasted... I don't know what... there's a shortage, and... it sounded like a million fire engines chasing ten million ambulances through a war zone and was played at a volume that made the empty chair beside me bleed. And it went, erm, "Funk soul brother... right about now... yeah... it's the, it's the funk soul brother... check it out. It's, er, well... it's the funk soul brother, essentially. He's, er, he's coming. He's coming at you. It's the... well... it's the funk soul brother." And after a while, I began to penetrate the meaning of this song, you know? I gathered that somebody was about to arrive, and everybody else was terribly excited. Maybe he was bringing cake or something, they didn't say. But the thing was, you see, he wasn't there yet. Ha ha, that was the hook! I'm not saying it's a bad song, you know, or anything like that. All I'm saying is that if you get–I don't know–a broom, say, and dip it in some brake fluid, put the other end up my arse, stick me on a trampoline in a moving lift, and I would write a better song on the walls." -Dylan Moran |

| Rancid – The Ballad Of Jimmy And Johnny Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| People's interpretations of this song just keep getting stranger and stranger. What are you talking about numbandnumber, how is two-tone referring to somebody who's half black? It's a ska reference, do some research! | |
| Fionn Regan – House Detective Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
Just helping you out with some lyrics that you missed. And I climbed up the ladder in your ... tights (Pretty self-explanatory) And I see that you have it in... spades (it's a common expression) Not sure what the word is after river, sounds like curve or something |
|
| Roddy Woomble – My Secret Is My Silence Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| The line at the start of the chorus is "but you know nothing is as silent" not "but you know nothing is outside", which makes no sense because some things are outside, just look out the window and anything you see is probably outside. Also, it's not cail yard, it's Kailyard (the kailyard school of Scottish Fiction ) here's alink to it's Wiki page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kailyard_school | |
| Finley Quaye – Spiritualized Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Easily his best song | |
| The Ting Tings – That's Not My Name Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| What a fucking cracking tune | |
| Kate Rusby – Farewell Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| The name of the song is NOT "Fare Thee Well" that is another song that Kate Rusby sings from her "The Girl Who Couldn't Fly" album, this is another song called "Farewell" It's from her album "Awkward Annie" | |
| Idlewild – Satan Polaroid Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I don't think the line is "I said it always seems kinda strange how you said happiness", I'm pretty sure it's "I said it always seems kinda strange like a sad happiness" | |
| Idlewild – I'm A Message Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I'm pretty sure that these lyrics are wrong, despite what it may say on other websites, the lyrics are "I am the best message out of the rest of them". Also, the line "you're ice cold, with you're eyes closed" seems to have been just shortened here to "with your eyes closed", which, on it's own, doesn't actually make any sense | |
| The Twilight Sad – That Summer, At Home I Had Become The Invisible Boy Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I think this is their best song, i love the "the kids are on fire in the bedroom" part, it just sounds incredible | |
| Black Box Recorder – Lord Lucan Is Missing Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| It seems like years ago... because it was... amazing | |
| The Auteurs – Future Generations Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I'm very surprised that this song has not been commented on previously, it's one of my favourite Auteurs tracks, the lyrics are fantastic... This music could destroy a nation | |
| Belle & Sebastian – A Century of Elvis Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| This is an unusual song, I've just been reading other people's comments and I've never got any cat vibe off this song, and still don't as a matter of fact, I always thought that it was pretty obvious that the song is about a stray dog | |
| The Pogues – Waxie's Dargle Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Of course this song's about women, the term 'aul wan' refers to the storytellers' wives. How could it be construed as anything else? Spook!! is right on the money | |
| Roddy Woomble – My Secret Is My Silence Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I think the line is 'By nicotine flame', but I could be wrong | |
| Roddy Woomble – Waverley Steps Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I was in New York about a month ago and I was going toward Washington Square, this song just popped into my head and then I realised I was on a street called 'Waverley Place', perhaps it's common knowledge that that's what this song's about, but it was news to me | |
