Paramore – Another Day Lyrics 15 years ago
Contrary to everyone else, I think this song is about the loss of someone she loved through suicide. The whole "where did you go? Cause you're not gone" is like she acknowledges their death, but can also still feel their presence. When she says "your voice comes in and now it's fading, I can't believe this is so frustrating" seems like she's searching for the answers of why they took their life, and she feels as though whenever she gets close to finding an answer, it makes no sense or isn't plausible, therefore she becomes frustrated. The line "if you ever find what you were looking for" is her saying I respect the choice you made and I'll always wait for you, even though she'll have to wait till she passes to see them again. I think it's really evident though when she sings "I know you left before goodbye" and "I don't think you meant to say goodbye" is her saying all I wanted was a goodbye and some answers, and then she forgives them when she realises "there's always another day" when she will see them again for that final goodbye.

Set Your Goals – The Few That Remain Lyrics 16 years ago
I could be so wrong with his, however, for our Religion and Society class we had to read a book titled The Gift of Peace by Joseph Cardinal Bernardin. Cardinal Bernardin was accused of sexual assaulting a young seminarian, and in this book, he explains how he prayed for those priests who "fell from grace". My interpretation of this song is about how "mighty" and inspirational public figures, such as priests, fall from grace, and use their titles and power to abuse vulnerable people, such as young children.

"Come on and break down and show us who you are
Memorable first impressions only get you far
When you stay true from beginning to end.
Flexing all your morals, your environment will bend back
As you bend crooked"

- explains how your first impression of this person may be that they are very kind, friendly and just a great person, however, first impressions never last and they never remain this way. They flex their morals, and ultimately disregard their morals to give into their urges.

"Come on and break down fake personas from your art.
I used to hang on every verse when my days would get hard.
Flash forward to present day and time:
A fraud, a hoax, a method actor reading scripted lines back.
Why'd you take that path?
There's no way back"

- The lines "I used to hang on every word when my days would get hard" and "reading scripted lines back" suggest to me that we believed the things these people told us when times got tough and showed us direction to guide us out of these dark times, such as prayer and scriptures, however, once the real person comes out, they are now just empty words from a "fake" person, "a fraud, a hoax... an actor"

"Conscience is calling, come and shut it up.
Yeah I know life gets rough sometimes
And big dollars take the pressure off of hard times,
But gluttony's a sin and hunger will not let you win if you don't get a grip.
Use some self will to control it, hold it."

- They have a conscience, and they know what they're doing is wrong, but they can't help it and have to "shut it up". They need self will to control themselves and fully grasp the concept that they shouldn't be doing what they're doing

"We are the spark that once would ignite a pilot light burning deep in your heart.
The start of making yourself out to be bigger than you really are.
You instilled, helped to build
A belief within me that I carry to this day.
You passed the torch and cared no more.
What a shame. Who's to blame when the mighty fall from grace?"

- The parishioners used to make the priests and catholic figures happy to be doing what they were doing, they were the spark that allowed them to help people, and they helped to build their faith and beliefs that they carry with them, and now they're asking why the mighty are falling from grace.

"Go settle up with the kids fed up.
This time we want for you to man on up right
And account for all your crimes."

- All the people who were once ashamed to express what happened to them, now realize they shouldn't have to feel like that because they are the victims, and want their offenders to act like a man and admit what they did, which were crimes.

I think by having Hayley collaborate on this gives people that different perspective of a very keen believer and someone who swears by their faith.
I could be wrong, but that's what this song says to me!
Love SYG, seeing them again in Feb :)
