It's a beautiful song. I'm not completely sure what it is saying, but what I took from it was just someone being unhappy with certain circumstances in their life. They're feeling let down. Saying they are already dead is like saying they have already given up hope as they are not finding what they 'need'. Although, when I initially heard it I thought it was about drug usage. Who knows! |

I believe all songs have different meanings to different people. To me, I thought this really went with how I've been feeling. I just got out of a relationship, and I had this one friend who helped me through everything. I found out later that this friend had a thing for me, and I him. Two weeks of me being pleased, he tells me he doesn't want to ruin things between us and I'm put on the back burner in basics. The first part just really spoke to me, about that feeling of just giving up. "I'm coming up only to hold you under I'm coming up only to show you wrong" I attributed this to him always holding me up, and how even when he was letting me down he was trying to still make himself seem just in his actions. What horrible timing though... "And to know you is hard and we wonder To know you all wrong, we were" I thought this was kind of like me thinking I knew him. All my friends were so happy for me too, because he seemed like such a great guy. The chorus about a funeral I thought would represent the death of a possibility, a relationship, a chance. And how I shouldn't have expected much because on "every occasion" I should have seen this coming, as most relationships really don't last. Even though this one never officially started. |
