| Blues Traveler – The Mountains Win Again Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
The mountain is an allusion to the Greek legend of Sisyphus. Sisyphus was a king punished by the Gods to spend eternity pushing a boulder up a mountain. Each time he would get the boulder to the top of the mountain it would roll back down and he would have to start all over. This is why impossible tasks are sometimes called Sisyphean. It makes sense in context because in a relationship after all the hard work, you often end up back at the bottom of the mountain. Another interesting side note is that this is the only Blues Traveler song written by the late Bobby Sheehan alone. It is usually sung in concert as a tribute to him. |
