i agree that i don't think it's "it rolls right on." anyway i think the song is about wanting to go out and change something/make a difference/help someone etc, but not really being young or adventurous enough. "far from home, elephant gun, let's take them down one by one" -all this exciting, terrible stuff is happening, but he's safe in his little home "we'll lay it down, it's not been found, it's not around" -everyone is sort of pretending that everything's okay or pretending there's nothing they can do about it "and it rips through the silence of our camp at night" -but as much as they try to pretend everything's fine, they can't ignore what's going on "all that is left is all that (i hide?) -he's still cowering, just holding onto whatever little bit of solace he has left. that's just my opinion. it's probably about a specific event, but i'm not into history, so i wouldn't have a clue what it was. |

although i think maybe animal collective doesn't actually want us to know what the real lyrics are, or maybe they don't know for themselves either, this is what i hear: hungry bread and butter hustle you'd be doin it a while it was only fair where's your relaxation where's the time required for your health been hatin on my new perspective been hurrying along no meal was never done you could win a rabbit, you could have a rabbit or a rib it's a fast track it's gonna have a dead end we could get him started yeah that might let me put on good habits been workin and put on good habits sometimes i can't find my good habits spinach bacon on the eggo persian kitty better stay out of the train glad you brought your food on eat it like it's gonna get away your coffee sure is gettin colder the seats are getting fewer space is losing place you could win a rabbit you could know what happens in the riddle a rabbit or a habit habit or a rib whatever the real lyrics are, i think the meaning of the song is just that running away from a bad habit doesn't necessarily mean you're making a good habit. |
