This song is about the lead singer's struggle with alcohol addiction. Hence the "a couple more for breakfast, a little more for tea." He's talking about a couple more drinks with breakfast and having a little more alcohol with tea (tea is english, which he is, and is around lunch) It's not about relationships or any other type of addiction or drug overdose. It's just about how he was addicted to alcohol. The "not your property" line relates to how his friends would try to intervene on his drinking but he wouldnt let them. The whole "just a body pouring down the street" relates to the pouring of the drink. How he has become nothing more than a drunk. Liquid pours. He drinks so much that he "pours."
I can relate to this quite a bit more than most people at the moment. It's just to take the edge off.
Again just to reiterate, this song is not about a relationship with a woman or other. It's only about alcohol addiction. So stop relating it relationships. I'm sure its very personal and its a shame to see it misinterpreted. Also its talked about in hail to the thief because its featured on the hail to the thief collectors edition second disc. Thats where i got it at least. |

I love how almost all of this bands lyrics deal with how life is completely meaningless outside of love, and even then love is just a hollow thing that makes us smile, yet it is still the only thing that can make our lives worth living. |

this song is so amazing. its def. my favorite off the new album. I love the lines "black liquid assets fuck the mujahideen, paint their picket fences red with the american dream." so fuckin sick.
pretty simple message. Contractors in Iraq dont give a shit about harming civs or anything else as long as they still fulfill their contract and get paid. |

this song has like 4 great fucking breakdowns right in a row. I dont really know what it's about though. could just be a shock song like most songs in this genre or it could deal with people who speak the truth in protest to something unjust in a government and then get taken in the night and this is from the point of view of the fucked up people who torture them. |

the first two lines at the beginning of this song are so fucking amazing. especially the way he screams them. amazing.
anyway pretty self explanatory. girl cheated on the singer, the singer goes and kills the guy she cheated with and then kills her. pretty brutal song. one of the best on the album |

| Emmure – Young, Rich, And Out Of Control Lyrics

I would have to disagree with boyconstrictor on this. I think that by saying product of my surroundings he is talking about the "young, rich and out of control."
By saying "there is no more love, trust, respect or loyalty" he is talking about how so many young kids today go around living their lives in a manner that is harmful to themselves and people around them because they dont live their lives with respect or love for the things around them or themselves.
He follows up with the line "product of my surroundings" because he doesnt blame the out of control kids of today for being the ones to live without respect and love, he blames society, family life and the media bullshit that all those kids are surrounded by for corrupting them into a loveless, disrespectful lifestyle.
thats my interpretation anyway =P |
