I think this song is of cource, coming from a father. It's a message to their kid, who's most likely in adolesence or is a young adult. There is a miscommunication between the two, the kid wanting to break away from his/her overbearing parents. "I caught you in you eye That disconnected trouble" Maybe talking about how the kid feels like his/her parents can't relate to them, but the dad can see eye to eye? "Respect the hive It seems like days since you rejected Your mom and I" Respect your home, the kid cas completely turned away from his/her parents. "We'll hope you dance to your bad weather Young love is fine Just please respect The candles as they lie" We hope you learn from your mistakes. The 'young love is fine' is probably why the kid has turned away from the parents in the first place, the parents warning about young love, repect the boundries they've set for him/her. I suppose candles is some strange comparison to the rules, boundries. This is the grounds and you shouldn't cross them. "I know that we'll decide You wonder why it can't stay simple Your mom and I To pet your head And dress your letters" The parents and the kid are still trying to work out their relationship, and the kid is wondering why things are so much more difficult now, like sgr7447 said, is wondering why it isn't as easy as it was as a kid. "Don't worry about why And split your head And sleep unmolded" Don't over think what's going on, this is the way things should be, don't be swayed by things. Young love is blind Just please respect the candles in a line Again the same. I think that maybe when they say, 'young love is blind' it might not mean a significant other, but could very well be the passion a young adult has, the philosphy and emotion of it all. Maybe it's a very strict, by the rules family, and the child is trying to branch out and be a free spirit, and this is a father's word of warning to that. |
