I read that this song was written by Sharon about her Mother or Grandmother, who can't remember who she is anymore. That Sharon visits her often hoping she will, but it never happens. I'd never thought about it that way until I read it. Now everytime I hear the song it makes me cry. It's beautiful, yet sad. |

Seems to me, her love is leaving her, perhaps to take care of unfinished and important business and she waits for him. Though she knows he's, "Independant" and probably won't return. Therefor their relationship depends on him to return. I love the melody. It's so enchanting! |

Sharon and Robert explained the song was about being taken advantage of. Someone who uses your time of need to better themselves and leave you in the dark. For me, this song is about my Ex-Pastor. I loved him and he crushed my heart when he found out and didn't care. He still doesn't know what he put me through and someday I'd like to sing this to him. |

To me the song is about a woman who has been hurt in the past many times and because of that, it's destroying her current relationship. Which she's trying desprately to save, but she's unsure how and pleads with him. "You've opened the door now, don't let it close." "Can you still see, the heart of me." Etc.... She just needs him to guide her through the darkness to the other side and make her, "heart a better place." |

For me, this song tells a story of a woman whose fallen in love all too soon. A person who was so caught up in the romance and swept away by someone, that now they're discovering the true, darker side of that person. "As your true colors show, a dangerous sign." "See the truth that you've buried inside." I always invision a woman whose fallen head over heels for a seriel killer and is now discovering his dark secret. |
