| Decyfer Down – Fight Like This Lyrics | 16 years ago |

I see it a bit differently. In fact, I see the song as being...fore the most part....from God's point of view, rather than man's. From Start to finish it sounds as though God is serious and angry. "Your time is done, I'm moving in" (God has had quite enough of the evil people and their rejection of Him and His generous Love and instructions.) "You've never seen a fight like this before" (No human mind or hand could ever mount such an incredible offense as the Hand or mind of God could. The sinful, ignorant betrayers of the Lord are used to coming into conflict with other humans....but they have absolutely no idea what it means to pick a fight with Almighty God. They're in for trouble beyond their worst imaginings. In other words they've "never seen a fight like this before") "You've crossed the line that I cannot ignore" (God is very patient and "long suffering"[Psalms 86:15], but that patience lasts only so long. Once you go so far into the arms of Satan you cross the line and God can no longer leave you to your own wicked devices. Take the examples of Sodom and Gammorah and that the inhabitants there were not just your average "sinners", but rather "sinners before the Lord exceedingly" [Genesis 13:13]. Because those people sinned so exceedingly, God stepped in and executed His wrath on them [Genesis 19:1-28]. They crossed the line that He could not ignore.) "Feel the pain, I'm raining down on you" (This could be another reference to divine Judgement. Notice it says "the pain I'm RAINING doiwn on you". Genesis 19:24 says that the Lord Then "the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven". "You won't deny my will, cause what I start I will follow through" No one can truly resist God's Will. They can sure resist His "desire"...but not His deterministic "Will". When God sets out to punish someone...they WILL be punished...He doesn't fail. The only verses of the song that perplex me are "I've come too far to lose, so go ahead and try me" (That makes it sound as though its possible for the narrator of the song to lose...which God cannot do.) "Craving all that I can see Making something out of me" (I don't recall ever coming across any Scripture where God says such a thing. Perhaps the song is sung from two different view-points. Or it could just be that I'm wrong. Regardless...great song. |
