| U2 – One Step Closer Lyrics | 15 years ago |

I just had to write a comment about this track. I have to be honest, I'd bought "How to Dismantle A Nuclear Bomb" a couple of years ago and had never really listened to the whole album properly, having only got the album in a charity shop, a couple of years after it was release Anyway, about a month back, I decided to put all the U2 albums onto my MP3 player and I think I don't think I'd ever heard "One Step Closer" up until a few weeks ago. I was actually walking round an art gallery when it came on and I just knew instantly, that it was one of those really special U2 songs. They seem to have an uncanny knack of releasing an album like "How to Dismantle A Nuclear Bomb" or like with the track "Grace" that was tucked away at end of "All You Can't Leave Behind" which are so subtle and understated but, certainly, as far I'm concerned, after the initial excitement of the big songs on the album like "Vertigo" have subsided, it's tracks like "One Step Closer" that leave such a profound impact that will be with you, probably for as long as you live. That's how I feel about it anyway. Maybe it's a wee bit obsessive but I think, in the next 4 or 5 days after I must have listened to it at least 60 or 70 times. The lyrics are so poignant and like other people have commented, I was curious to the reference to Noel Galagher in the sleeve notes, but it makes sense in relation to the death of Noel's father. I think that it's one of those song's that could be interpretated by different individuals to mean something quite unique to each listener. I suppose, ultimately, it is a song about life and that uncertainty that we all experience, when you don't have the answers and the fear of what might lie ahead, whether that is someone who is in the last stage of their life or trying to struggling with being unable to put your faith in something that doesn't make any sense, it's just a song about life! I definately think that the final verse delivers such a powerful and positive message, cause if you're heart can still feel hurt, then you're still alive and it's never to late to find inner peace. |

| Dido – Don't Leave Home Lyrics | 16 years ago |

I love this song. When I heard it for the 1st time, it was the remix by the american producers, Gabriel and Dresden. Don't get me wrong, I do like Dido's original versions of her songs but her voice just seems perfect in trance and progressive house remixes and this is one of the best. I fell in love with the song instantly but when I heard the lyrics, I just assumed that it was a love song about relationships until I looked it up google and found a few interviews with Dido explaining that the song is all about drugs and how people get so messed up that they get to the point where they don't leave home. "So close the blinds and shut the door. You won't need other friends anymore!!!" I think anyone who has found themselves in that predicament will be able to relate to the song instantly. One of the things that I love about the song is the fact that it does sounds very sweet and enduring like some of the best love songs and I suppose for me, that's sums up drug addiction to a T. Just allowing yourself to become deluded into believing that taking drugs will enhance your life, when in reality, they only end up destroying it!! |

| Girls Aloud – Untouchable Lyrics | 16 years ago |

Yep mate. I couldn't agree with you more. No other girl band come close to Girls Aloud. I know that The Sugababes have had more no.1's and I do like some of their songs but they just ain't as good on the whole. And as for the Spice Girls, well they were just bollox, without trying to sound cruel. I'm 32 years old and all my mates and my sister constantly take the p**s out of me for liking them but they just don't get it. And the thing is, I honestly cannot think of another band in the world whose 1st five albums are of an equal quality. Not Led Zeppelin, or Pink Floyd or U2. Also, every album that they've released has been an even bigger improvement than the previous one in my opinion. I love "Out of Control" and Untouchable might well be my favourite track that they've ever made. Great lyrics, I just love everything about the song!!! Sublime. GA at their very best!!! |

| Dizzee Rascal – Bonkers Lyrics | 16 years ago |

Man!!!! I f**kin' love this tune. I've gotta be honest, I'd never really listened to much of Dizzee Rascal's song's before this cause it's not really the kind of music that I'm into but from the very 1st time I heard Bonkers, I just love it. It's one of those tracks, I suppose that you're either gonna love it or hate it but when I listen to it, it just makes me want to go mental!!!! The lyrics are quality. "I let sanity give me the slip!!" hehehehehe!!! I suppose it just sums up exactly how I feel as do, millions of other people about music. I'm into trance but it's exactly the same, regardless of what kind of music you're into. "A Heavy Bassline is my Kind of Silence!!!!!" |
