| Skint & Demoralised – The Thrill Of Thirty Seconds Lyrics | 14 years ago |

Simon got it wrong: "I look for inperfections I've looked everything I saw" Fail. Good song by a great artist though. |
| White Lies – Farewell to the Fairground Lyrics | 14 years ago |
"the act forever haunts these skies, i know we cannot stay." The radiation caused from the Chernobyl disaster means people can no longer live in the surrounding areas, the city of Pripyat, where there is a fairground. Hence, the "act" is the disaster. |

| The View – The Don Lyrics | 15 years ago |

"Invested life in medicine, had so much shit going on. " Shouldn't "which isn't the wisest way to go" be in the middle there? |
| Pulled Apart By Horses – Yeah Buddy Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Just full of Ronnie Coleman quotes http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PO45iY7hilI Although, the song maybe mocking people, like Ronnie Coleman, who focus so much of their lives through how they look and the size of their muscles. Well the line, "Your muscles don't mean shit to me" sounds that way. Probably way off though because there's no other lines in the song that could suggest that, and "Your muscles don't mean shit to me" may just be another Ronnie Coleman quote. Good, fun song though. |

| The Music – Welcome to the North Lyrics | 15 years ago |
You've probably grown up a lot since you made that comment, but you hardly "kicked our asses out of your country in the American Revolution". Seeing how most Americans, are immigrants from Europe anyway, hence why the east coast is much more developed than anywhere else. And why you have so many British place-names in your country. So the American Revolution was basically Europeans(with a large percentage of Brits) fighting Britain. But then again, British people descended from Romans, Angles, Saxons, Jutes, Vikings, Normans etc. I don't really know where i'm going with this comment. |

| Mumford & Sons – The Cave Lyrics | 15 years ago |
"Come out of your cave walking on your hands, And see the world hanging upside down" ----------- When I hear this, all I can think it's about is Neanderthal-like ignorant people that still exist in today's society. And the "walking on your hands" being another way of describing the people as backwards or wrong. They see the world the way they do, because they are ignorant. When in fact the world isn't anything like they're saying it is. (I don't think I can explain what i'm trying to say any better. I'll probably read this back in a month or so, and correct myself with what I was actually trying to say because I just can't think at the moment.) I may be way off the mark with what i'm saying about that particular line but that's what i hear when I listen to the song. |

I know it's 5 years since you posted this but still They're from Sheffield you spaz. High Green, a suburb in north Sheffield. |

| The Cribs – I've Tried Everything Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I agree with deardean here. It's definitely about home, i.e. Wakefield. Wanting to leave Wakefield because it's dull and rubbish; "I've been trying to get out of it, Nothing's changed since the 1950s" But when they did leave home, they realised how much they love the place, and how they miss it; "I thought it would not be a problem, But I found out the night we rode the Circle Line" |
| The Cribs – Martell Lyrics | 15 years ago |
On this video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SdEDfz7GZgI Ryan Jarman says "it's about how shit Leeds is". I think it's slating the Leeds music scene, which i didn't think was that bad, although it is a quite old song. |
| The Pigeon Detectives – I'll Be Waiting Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Apparently at the gig at Leeds Academy a few years back (2008?), Matt Bowman exchanged the line "im not sorry that we took our chance" for "Ryan Jarmans a bit of a wanker". So, I was almost right! But: "i'll be waiting for you when you wanna go" Is basically offering them out for a fight. |
| Arctic Monkeys – Fake Tales of San Francisco Lyrics | 16 years ago |
See: The Beatles Led Zeppelin The Rolling Stones Pink Floyd The Who AC/DC (Although formed in Australia, majority of them from Britain) Fleetwood Mac Queen The Police The Kinks All in a Top 20 Rock bands of all time article i found with a quick google search, and all coincidentally British. Led Zep and The Beatles are the top two in every list i've seen. |
| Stereophonics – A Thousand Trees Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I know i'm just echoing what most people have said here, but before i read the comments i thought it was about how a little mistake can seriously harm a good reputation. And in the case with the PE teacher, my guess was right; the PE teacher had a good reputation but lost it all when the incident happened(or after people started to believe it happened) Also, it could be that it only takes one person to start gossiping about someone else to give the other person a bad reputation. It only takes Person A to start gossiping about Person B. It only takes that gossip to burn Person B's good reputation. |

| The Cribs – You're Gona Lose Us Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I'm from Wakefield, i don't think i've ever said "ass" as oposed to "arse". In this song though, it sounds like Gary sings "ass". Also, the bass at the chorus in this song is great. |
| The Cribs – Mirror Kissers Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I definately think it's about people who love themselves, and agree with everything bethifer said. I've never really listened to the older cribs stuff(Apart from Hey Scenesters, Martell and You're Gonna Lose Us) but since i fell in love with them after MNWNW and seeing them live, i gave some of their older stuff a listen, this is one of my favourite songs, and The Cribs are now one of my favourite bands. |
| The Pigeon Detectives – I'm A Liar Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Best song from Emergency. The verse: "Although I don't know your name, Well, I could love you just the same for tonight, And like a flash in your pannel I will take what I can if that's alright. I still don't know how I feel, The words I use are words I steal, I'm a liar." Is quite possibly the best song writing TPD have ever done. |
| Good Shoes – Morden Lyrics | 16 years ago |
"What the fuck is this supposed to mean, "starring at the government not noticing the queen". Doesn't make any sense, they're just a topman band trying to be clever." ------- Erm, i think it's a reference to the queen having little or no power at all anymore, it's the government that run the country. Like someone else said, the queen is just a symbol of Britain's past. If you have any brains what so ever, you would be able to work out what that line means, and that this song is actually very clever. Your just an NME reading, Bandwagon jumping cunt. Fuck off. |
| The Cribs – Victim of Mass Production Lyrics | 16 years ago |
"Well he's a creature without a care Except for the fact that he'll only wear out The things he sees in magazines He is a victim of mass production I was brought up with my own beliefs" I think this is a stab at the people who claim to be individuals, but actually they aren't that individual because they just follow the crowd and the latest trend. And how they(the band) try not to follow the crowds, and are actual individuals. |
| The Cribs – We Share the Same Skies Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Also my favourite from the new album, closely followed by Ignore the Ignorant. | |
| The Cribs – We Were Aborted Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Great Song. Good spot magpie11, i also thinks it's about the kind of people who read those mags. |
| The Clash – I Fought the Law (The Crickets cover) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Your wrong. The original was by Sonny Curtis and The Crickets. Bobby Fuller Four's version was more successful and, as a result, often mistaken to be the original. |
| White Lies – Farewell to the Fairground Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I think it's about having to leave their hometown to chase their dream, of success in the music industry. But if they're from Ealing, I don't see why they would have to move away to chase the dream. Or could it possibly be about touring; leaving home for such long periods of time. |
| Green Day – I Fought the Law (The Crickets cover) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Seriously? The Ramones never sung this, it's by The Clash. |
| Nizlopi – JCB Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| No it's just JCB, the media called it JCB song, but it's actually just JCB on Nizlopi's album. | |
| Nizlopi – JCB Lyrics | 16 years ago |

| Kaiser Chiefs – I Predict a Riot Lyrics | 16 years ago |
middo88 I've lived in Leeds most of my life, and every time i go out I'm guaranteed to see or get involved in a fight. Where do you go when you go out? The library? And why does you seeing just one fight when you've been at the library, make these guys talentless? They have much more talent than you for a start, that's why their one of the biggest bands in UK. |
| Red Hot Chili Peppers – Otherside Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| About Hillel Slovak? I think so. | |
| The Holloways – Generator Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I think "Many I remind you that you dont live in poverty" should be "May I..." Great Song! An ultimate feelgood song. |
| Kaiser Chiefs – I Can Do It Without You Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I agree with you rhiannon, its definately got something to do with how Leeds has changed over the last 15 or so years. The line "On returning to the north again" gives this away. "Stacking blocks for young professionals to stay in." - Google Images search "Opal Tower Leeds" and you shall find out which monstrosity that they are referring to |
| The Fratellis – Creeping Up the Backstairs Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| As much as i like The Fratellis, the two times ive seen them live i thought they were rather poor. To be fair, one of the times was at Leeds Festival, and there was something wrong with the speakers all day the day they were on. | |
| The Pigeon Detectives – Everybody Wants Me Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Apparently about how everybody wants to be their friends now they are famous. And possibly them just wanting to be friends with those who have been there all the time. The first bit they said in an interview, the second bit i guessed. |
| The Pigeon Detectives – She's Gone Lyrics | 16 years ago |

And he's like why has it begun ----------- And his life, well where has it begun Thats what i hear anyway. I may be wrong1 |
| The Pigeon Detectives – I'll Be Waiting Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I have a feeling this may be a pop at the cribs and the songs that they have done about PD (Our Bovine Public, Don't you wanna be relevant). I know you think you're so much better and we used to get on fine together ------------ The Cribs think they are so much better than the pigeon detectives (and they're right to think they're a better band, don't know whether they're better people), The Cribs and PD used to get on quite well until PD made it big. im not sorry that we took our chance --------- PD aren't sorry they took their chance to make it big. now you're heads a bit of a mess im gonna put it down to success --------- The Cribs and Ryan Jarman inparticular are arrogant. oh so petty --------- The Cribs being petty creating songs about PD, and now PD being petty making a song about TC. false opinion --------- The Cribs are maybe wrong to call PD a generic indie band. i'll be waiting for you when you wanna go --------- When The Cribs feel like quitting, PD will always be there to take their place as indie kings Or it could be about how most 'rock-stars' look down on the working class - arrogant. Or i could be just talking complete nonsense! Haha. |
| The Cribs – Our Bovine Public Lyrics | 16 years ago |
"Good ole NME, full of random facts! ;) " Good ole nme filled with total bullshit. This song is quite clearly about the media and the media always trying to "impress our bovine public". So altogether - an attack at the media (probably NME in particular), an attack on indie bands, and an attack on the people who follow these generic bands and love reading about bullshit in NME. NME probably know that its about them, but tried covering it up by telling people it's about The Pigeon Detectives, scoring 2 goals with one shot, covering themselves whilst making even more people turn against The Pigeon Detectives. As you can tell, i hate NME with a passion. |
| The Sunshine Underground – Put You In Your Place Lyrics | 16 years ago |

THE most underrated band in the world! Fact. |
| The Fratellis – Creeping Up the Backstairs Lyrics | 16 years ago |

It's Lucy not Rose by the way. She said "I'm Rosie" I said "I thought you were Lucy" She said "No Rosie, I told you so" |
| The Fratellis – Whistle for the Choir Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I love the line "Is it out of line if I was to be bold and say would you be mine", And i don't know why, suppose it just sounds good. | |
| The Fratellis – Milk and Money Lyrics | 16 years ago |
"And now the city is off limits To everyone in blue" Maybe a reference to Rangers FC supporters? |
| Kaiser Chiefs – The Angry Mob Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I find it outrageous that some people are classing the working class and chavs as the same category. Chav's don't work, that's why they aren't working class. Anyway rant over. Great song and i agree that this must be about modern day britain, everyone believing what they read in papers. The video shows different social classes fighting so you can't just say its all about chavs. |
