| This is an incredibly inspirational song. It talks about how a man can be like a mountain, strong and unchangeable, weathering all the hardships and tough times and not getting beaten down. Its telling us to feel "tall as a mountain" (have pride in who we are) and "tear through the sky" (break through the walls that are holding us back) and that "life's for the taking" (seize the day, make life what you want it to be). The mountain is a metaphysical thing in this song, the "call to greatness" that "not all can hear". Not everyone was born to be great, depite what your parents told you (which explains the first several weeks of each American Idol season) but if you hear the call inside you, you have to be bold and go for it. Have no fear. Charge into the fray, come what may, like a warrior of old charging into battle. We only live once and for a short time, relatively speaking. We should each do what makes our hearts sing with bravery and integrity. Leave a mark on this world. That is the only way to achieve immortality. | |
