I love songs like this. They don't sing it in a sad way, but they're saying that they were "fated to pretend" and just live short, superficial lives. MGMT rocks!! |

Okay, this song rocks. Music can be interpreted any way you want, so you can't get mad at me for this :D I know that Train even said this is a love song, but I can't bring myself to believe that this song would be about how much he/she hates the person who left them for the "milky way" Obviously, best friends/boyfriend girlfriend were split because one went off to the big city (Milky Way, Venus, shooting stars, Jupiter, etc.) So basically one person abandoned another, either their best friend or boyfriend. But I don't think the person who got left behind is upset in this song. I think that obviously they were hurt, but that they've grown and realized that they don't need a friend/girlfriend who would abandon them for the big city. I think that the person singing, the one who was left behind, has grown and doesn't need this friend anymore and is basically is saying "Well, was it good enough that you would lose me over it?" Sorry for taking up so much space... |
