The sun is the main character's only "friend". He is dying alone; whether by his own hand or some other circumstance. The sun is the only thing he can share this moment with. The last five lines are sung by the sun, saying goodbye to the speaker. "Our affinity (mutual liking) is now through", because the protagonist is now dead. The sun is now speaking to him (someone who cannot answer his question), just as he had spoken to the sun. |
