Phoenix – Lasso Lyrics 15 years ago
Basically, the girl is lonely no matter what because she most likely doesn't love herself, and is looking for happiness in the worst way possible. The singer knows this and is trying to convince her that he understands her sorrow, but that his love might set her free. (of the lasso) Anyway that's just my interpretation.

Phoenix – Lasso Lyrics 15 years ago
I think the song is about the singer trying to stop the girl of his dreams from getting married. He knows she doesn't love the guy she is with now, but due to circumstances she said "yes" to the proposal(No you don't realize what you say yes to, but you say yes too). He says "why so suddenly?" as if this is happening out of no where. Also he says "Forever is a long long time when you've lost your way trying to follow your ideal". When you get married the vow is to stay together forever, but the girl is just trying to live her "ideal" white-picket-fence life without actually being happy with herself. Time flies when you're living a happy life, but "forever" will be a long time for her since she is not actually happy. And her "so called life is a waste" because shes lonely and looking for happiness in the wrong place, or in the wrong way.
Finally I think "where would you go with a lasso? Could you run into me?" is saying once she's tied down and married, would she ever be able to come back to him when she sees that he was right. I think that this line is more of a cry for the girl not to do this, because he would love for her to run to him instead. This guy really loves the girl hes singing this to, and wants her to be happy, but is begging her to be happy with him. Sad song, but beautiful in so many ways.

Radiohead – High and Dry Lyrics 16 years ago
I think the song deals with coming to terms with the fact that you wont be the best at what ever you do for ever, and the fact that if you don't love yourself for who you are, you'll never be truly happy. The jumper in the first verse does everything he can to stay the best so people can love him for it, yet he doesn't love himself or the person hes becoming. In the second verse the jumper is too injured to jump anymore and he's alone "wishing (he) could still make love" even though there are worse things to worry about (like falling to pieces). Finally at the second verse Thom explains it... Once you figure out how to truly be happy, the world hates you for it. The chorus ties all this together, because being left "high and dry" is an old way of saying that a ship was left stranded on shore, not only that, but it has been there for a while because it is no longer wet. So "don't leave me high and dry" means "don't abandon me when I need your help the most" . Beautifully written, in my opinion
