Someone made the comment about the lines "stood on the edge, tied to a noose, but you came along and cut me loose", as in standing on the edge of a really high bridge, as i always thought it was, but the only thing holding you back was a horrible tight noose. the line "you came along and you cut me loose", i had always thought of it as a release, but whoever it was that said it was like cutting you loose from the only thing that was holding you back and then pushing you off the edge... oh my god. its given me a bit of a shock because the rest of the song fits with that meaning too. i can't decide if i like it or not but its definitely a different point of view. its like having no choice, one way or another. i agree with it sounding like its underwater, and that's interesting about Amsterdam being all water. i would love to go there one day, it sounds really beautiful. i do really love this song though. I remember when i bought A Rush Of Blood To The Head, i was looking at the list of songs on the back and i saw the one called Amsterdam and i thought "i bet i really love that song", but then the first few times i listened to it i didn't think that much of it, but now i love it. I think with pretty much any coldplay song the more you listen to it the better it gets. seriously, i haven't yet heard any coldplay song that i didn't like after listening to it about more than 20 times. definitely my favourite band, and a great song. thankyou so much, coldplay and i also love the bit that goes "come on, oh my star is fading". and also where it starts getting more intense, at the crescendo i cant believe the whole thing is over 5 minutes. it goes so quick when i listen to it.. but not rushed. |

there's so many people that relate to this song. i looked it up because i relate to it in a way and i wanted to see how many other people did too. i love how with coldplay's songs everyone can relate to the lyrics and the music personally. I can't think of any band better than coldplay. they're just too good. i love the line: "come on in, i've got to tell you what a state i'm in" i love it all, actually. |
