Mirah – The Garden Lyrics 17 years ago
So, without ttly digging up this garden and disecting the mushrooms, i was just listening to this song, and i related it to a similar situation in my life that i noticed happens to other people a lot too:

So, you're all like, "oh loverboy" without doing much conscious flirting
and then he comes to the yard on impulse 'cause he's completely smitten
Then you subconsciously realize the chemistry, and increase the rate of reaction
and same goes for him
THEN you start to actually notice how much you like him and care for a snog
but since he's more obvious than you are about it, visits your garden more often, you play it cool, thinking he's more into you than you are him, and you spray pesticides all over your pumpkins and strawberries
after some inevitable inability to see each-other so much, you start to think about him more and more, until you distorted your memories of him to heavenly spoonfuls of applesauce (instead of the hearty yet imperfect red macintosh that comes from that tree thing)
after some seasons pass and new fruits and flowers grow in this little patch of fertilizer, you're still thinking about him, but he's lost some interest, is maybe visiting some other ORGANIC garden, and you're still thinking of those pretty rosebuds you picked in his garden last summer and how, even though they're wilted now, you know that there are more where they came from, but his garden is becoming more and more well-known and fruitful.

In short, the roles switch.

Ok, i completely over-analyzed that.

Paul Simon – 50 Ways To Leave Your Lover Lyrics 17 years ago
I think that the words of this mysterious charming little slut are metaphoric, are "all inside his head." When people have relationship troubles, they sometimes look to other people to satisfy their craving for attention, lovin' and livin'. Through these dirty little secrets, people can find new scandalous solutions to their love problems. The little lady that Mr. Simon met provoked him to cheat, provoked a bad side in him, but she herself didn't necessarily have this poetic convo with him.
Using different names of men in the chorus expresses how common this scenario is.

This song says a lot about human nature...
