| Sea Wolf – The Violet Hour Lyrics | 16 years ago |

This is what I heard in the song: your lips are nettles your tongue is wine your laughter's liquid but your body's pine you love all sailors but hate the beach you say "come touch me" but you're always out of reach in the dark you tell me of a flower that only blooms in the violet hour your arms are lovely yellow and rose your back's a meadow covered in snow your thighs are thistles and ? grapes you breathe a sweet breath and have me wait in the dark you tell me of a flower that only blooms in the violet hour i turn the lights out i clean the sheets you changed the station turned up the heat and now you're sailing upon your chair you got me tangled up inside your beautiful black hair in the dark you tell me of a flower that only blooms in the violet hour in the dark you tell me of a flower that only blooms in the violet hour |

I agree with Tiles analysis, but I'd like to add that this song was written by Darren Jessee, the drummer of Ben Folds Five, and Robert Sledge was the bassist- perhaps that has something to do with the line 'and Robbie made that stupid face all day.' However, seeing as I'm pretty sure the band members didn't know each other back then, I don't know if that's relevant. Just throwing it out there. (: |
