I think they lyrics are 'The wolf's there, in the skin of a sheep' and 'Love was all that it could give, But it died so other towns could live
They un-buried bodies from the ground, when they drowned our little town'. I think there are a lot of parallels with the film Lost River, and it's about the idea of a town sacrificing itself for the good of others, and how the dead bodies in the graveyards literally started to surface as the earth got waterlogged, hence the line 'bury anchors in our ghosts, so we can let our heartbeats go' - the spirits of the bodies need to be laid to rest once again so their loved ones can be at peace. |

The lyrics to this song are just amazing. They're particularly relevant to my current relationship, which makes them even more beautiful to me. The metaphor of 'slow dancing in a burning room' is just so perfect. The idea of a couple who deeply love eachother, but know that eventually, due to differing life paths, mixed emotions and different wants and needs in life (the burning room), they will eventually have to say goodbye. A slow dance being a perfect end to what they had, before their love gets engulfed by the reality of life. And maybe they blame eachother for this, but right now, they just have to savour what they have as who knows how much longer they'll have it? I just hope that in my case the fire subsides, or that is stays away from us a little bit longer. |

I love this song so much, the lyrics are just so relevant. To me at least, i believe this song is about a girl who loves her boyfriend so much, but pushes him away, perhaps through jealousy, paranoia or misunderstanding. And although she loves him, more than shes ever loved any one, all this over thinking makes her doubt what they have. Also, it could also relate to the step after this, once she has pushed him away, and she kind of doesnt blame him as she never thought of herself as god enough, yet she still cant stomach the fact that one day, he'll be with some one else. and as everyone knows, her thoughts and fears are responded to in the fiction we live. |
