Hey Rosetta – A Thousand Suns Lyrics 16 years ago
I was just speaking to a friend about this song and she brought up that this is possibly about when all of the planes had to land in Gander, Newfoundland due to the 9/11 disaster. After taking another listen to the song I agree completly with her assessment. (Thanks Cat!)

During that time Newfoundlanders treated 6579 complete strangers as if they were family, providing them with food and shelter, in their own homes in some cases. With all that was 9/11 this goes perfectly well with the lyric "these are twisted times when trust and truth collide when a stranger’s love could make your heart explode".

The main refrain of the song "We want to thank you so much" is of Newfoundlanders thanking each other for their kindness to people in need. "cause all you did for them, you also did for us. what you’ve done is not yours alone what you’ve done echoes on and on". Makes perfect sense with Hey Rosetta! being Newfoundlanders themselves.

I can't guarantee this 100% but it makes perfect sense to me.
