| The White Stripes – The Hardest Button to Button Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I think it might be about the Cold War and agree that "Ray gun" could be Reagan. "He started crying, it sounded like an earthquake" - Politicians argue and complain, and it could lead to nuclear conflict which would shake the whole world. The narrator hopes and prays that the war doesn't happen. Possibly by sticking pins in a voodoo doll representing Reagan. The hardest button to button - could be the nuclear button? |

| Regina Spektor – Machine Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I would say this is definitely NOT about God. Spektor is using language that normally refers to deities such as "mightier power" to show what a grip technology has on modern society. She seems to be suggesting that computers have REPLACED God. | |
| Belly (US) – Super-connected Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Possibly my favourite Belly song. It's about stupid rock stars being idolised and wasting the opportunity to say something decent and worthwhile, choosing to spout bullshit instead. Most likely directed at Courtney Love. | |
| Laura Marling – My Manic and I Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
It's about assisted suicide. "He" wants to die in Geneva, where many British people have gone to receive assistance in dying, because of his illness which seems to be dementia. He is fine with this because of his religious beliefs. "She" (the narrator) does not share his beliefs and is concerned that he is making the wrong decision - a decision he may not be capable of making because of illness and drugs. She is also scared of being alone after his death. Just my interpretation of course. |
