Manchester Orchestra – Pensacola Lyrics 14 years ago
Hell, yeah. I live right by Pensacola, hopefully they'll come and play since most people avoid it for some reason. Although, I know the song isn't necessarily about Pensacola but rather blaming drinking for getting in the way of your family life in general.

Benton Falls – Sad Like Winter Leaves Lyrics 16 years ago
I don't think she literally drowned. I have a feeling she killed herself - I'm thinking he means drowning in misery. Basically saying he's sorry that he wasn't there enough for her. Because he also says - If I brought you down.

Jawbreaker – Basilica Lyrics 16 years ago

To me this is about him being in love with a girl who has a lot of problems and is pretty suicidal. He's saying that he's there for her and wants to be there for her for the rest of their lives - I want to go on a date with your life."

He doesn't want her to die and he's telling her that in - Never let this soil come between us. Because if she was buried there would be soil between us. Also, I think you have thoughts of dying. I'm eclipsing them now. So, she isn't dead yet.

Also, he's saying earlier that he's not the only one that wants to help her - Calling all allies down.

The Used – Men Are All The Same Lyrics 16 years ago

This is about a guy killing himself - shooting himself in the head specifically (ie. picking up my brains - because of some girl and all the while telling her that with him gone she's not going to make it own her own and she'll regret that he's gone. She's going to pay to watch him die.

This whole album Brett said is coming to terms with hating yourself. I can see that in every song so far on this album.

- Sorry, had to fix it. My name is too long to read what I put.

The Used – Meant To Die Lyrics 16 years ago

Nothing to do with Kate at all.

McCracken, who had previously lived a "reckless life," recently came to terms with how easy it is to accidentally die after the tragic death of actor Heath Ledger. The song "Meant to Die" is loosely based on the death of Ledger and not being able to say "sorry," or "I never meant to die" after an accidental death.

These are his words...period.

You spelt the song title wrong. It's So Hi, So Lo.

Portugal. The Man – Lovers in Love Lyrics 16 years ago

I think the verse about crawling from the fire into the pan is about getting into a relationship you know is bad but it's not as bad as being lonely. Or maybe it can just be getting into a bad situation period from a situation that's worse.

The verse about if another lover takes their love from you careful what with your mind what you're bound to do is obvious in that those kind of situations can make people do crazy and harmful things.

The Cribs – Men's Needs Lyrics 16 years ago

I was thinking Kate Bush and this song was written a long time ago. I was wrong, Kate Nash covers the Cribs. I don't know what I was thinking.

Oh, yeah, By the way, this is a cover of a Kate Nash song. It's actually written from a woman's perspective but it works both ways.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I was like, "What does Apollo Creed have to do with anything?" It still sounds like that as I listen and look at the lyrics but I'm sure they aren't what I, WE, thought. Ha, ha.

Taking Back Sunday – Cut Me Up Jenny Lyrics 16 years ago
I think Marky has it right, or rather since nobody knows for sure, I agree with him. I'm in the same boat as far as that situation goes. Actually, funnily enough, it's this song and Lonely, Lonely combined. This girl, who was new in town, and I hooked up but once she started getting to know people and made knew friends other than me she just cut me off. I've been screwed over in this same type of situation before and even though it hurts and she took advantage of me to feed her loneliness I'm willing to let her keep on doing it if she wants to because I've been screwed over and hurt so many times that when I am in a proper relationship, if there ever was one, that I can't deal and it feels funny if I'm not getting crapped on.

Taking Back Sunday – Where My Mouth Is Lyrics 16 years ago

I think it is deeper than drugs but at the same time it is about drugs. And I don't think it's cocaine unless he's talking about smoking it ala "I put my money where my mouth is". Maybe the new crack - crystal meth - or it could be anything even drinking, though he specifically says drugs. But on top of th meaning "I put my money where my mouth is" I think he also means what the saying is intended to mean in the beginning.

Taking Back Sunday – Lonely, Lonely Lyrics 16 years ago
Well, this is obviously about a guy who is into a girl who is only into him when she has nothing else. He knows it but he still can't let her go. He's lonely without her and she only wants him around when she's lonely without anybody else.

Cursive – In the Now Lyrics 16 years ago
Turns out there is a companion song called "All I Know" on the bonus materials that fits this song perfectly and kind of takes away from what I thought the song was about because he keeps on saying, "I want to know, I want to know." And this song is saying, "I don't want to know...". Good stuff.

Cursive – In the Now Lyrics 16 years ago
The demo version with alternate lyrics is pretty damn good as well. I haven't figured out which one I like better though I'm leaning towards the demo version. It's a bit more subdued in the beginning. Bought the CD today and downloaded the songs they give you just now.

It's obvious what the song is about though. I think it's about somebody who would rather be ignorant about the things he knows now because ignorance is bliss oftentimes. But the thing - the Catch 22 - is that history repeats itself if you don't learn from your mistakes.
