Blink-182 – Please Take Me Home Lyrics 16 years ago
Oh, yeah. Also, punk rock is all about the music, as opposed to skill. It's about picking up an instrument and jamming, whether you know how to or not. Fun, nostalgia, emotions, and doing whatever you want. T'is punk. T'is Blink.

I think that from a strictly educated writer's standpoint, their lyrics are pretty bad.
However, a major part of writing when it comes to poetry/music/literature is to immerse the reader/listener in the world that you've created. It's not about skill with words.

Sometimes, the simplest string of words will incite a massive impact upon the mind. Small words, broken fragments, jumping topics - it's actually a great way to get a lot of topic into one small statement. The imagination fills in the rest, as well as the feelings needed to properly feel the lyrics.

In one way, they're fantastic lyricists. In another, they're horrible. I get both stand-points. I like the music, so I'll just keep listening. lol.

Vertical Horizon – All Is Said And Done Lyrics 16 years ago
Wow. I'd have suspected more interpretations.
It's really a great song.

Right off the bat, I haven't studied the lyrics much, but I feel like it's about a cold, intelligent woman who's defenses are strong and she's distant. My best friend is like this.

They pride themselves on their intelligence, showing people what they know, 'teaching birds to fly' so to speak. They analyze people, try to control them (reminiscent of I'm Still Here), and once they find someone who can match their wits, match their 'strength', then they run away because they can't handle being the top gun, the teacher, the commander.

Kinda reminds me a little of Trapt's Black Rose, if my interpretation is correct.

Vertical Horizon – I'm Still Here Lyrics 16 years ago
This song, to me, is definitely about a break-up. However, I think it's a break-up over reasoning that she wanted to change him. He couldn't change, and he didn't want to, but he still loved her.

I found the pieces in my hand
They were always there
It just took some time for me to understand
You gave me words I just can't say
So if nothing else
I'll just hold on while you drift away
'Cause everything you wanted me to hide
Is everything that makes me feel alive

It's kind've like...the pieces of their relationship were always there. It was never whole, and he finally understood, and he couldn't return the love any longer. He still felt something, so he hung on as much as he could.

I tried to wear another face
Just to make you proud
Just to make you put me in my place
But everything you wanted from me
Is everything that I could never be

He tried his best to be what she wanted, but what she wanted wasn't who he was.

Then i saw you yesterday
But you didn't notice
And you just walked away
'Cause everything you wanted me to hide
Is everything that makes me feel alive

He's on his own now, and he's himself. She didn't notice because he wasn't who she wanted, who she saw. She wanted him to hide who he was, but that doesn't make him feel alive.

In the end, it was her who belittled him, despite his valiant efforts. He finally tore away, and now he has to move on and everything will be ok.

Seether – Never Leave Lyrics 16 years ago
Good interpretations from most of you, I agree with them. I'd like to throw another possibility into the fray, though.
When I was listening to this song today, I got the impression that it was a guy talking about how he's in love with a friend, but he's too scared to try for something more.

She's the one who keeps me all excited
She keeps me begging for more
Could be him saying how she makes him feel, and that he wants more than just friendship.

Never tease me and don't leave me here
It's all the same in the end.
Telling her not to tease him 'cuz it will never lead to anything.

The dying part seems to counteract my opinion, but in my current situation (my interpration is biased) it fits pretty well. My friend (my ex) is going through something rough. She still loves me, and it's obvious, but she'll never admit it because she likes to have me around, at the very least. And she's scared right now and I'm a big help to her. So, *shrugs*

Stone Sour – Reborn Lyrics 17 years ago
I love this song to death and have listened to it a million times. I still can't quite grasp what it's completely about, though. I love how obscure the message is. Really leaves you thinking. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Corey's a lyrical mastermind.

The first thing that comes to mind is a religious meaning, but toward the end it sounds like it wouldn't really be God - at least not God in the nicer representation, and then I got to thinking that it was about the Devil instead. His name is lost and no one knows the real name given to him. It's said to be Lucifer, but that's a misnomer, and in today's culture, he's pretty much forgotten, thought of as myth and no one fears him.

But reading everyone's interpretations on here, I'm gonna go with the personification of evil as opposed to someone angry. An angry person just doesn't fit everything perfectly. Evil has been around since the beginning of time and festers until it's released. We all like to believe that we're not capable of it, but it's always there. Tempting and misguiding.

Stone Sour – Zzyzx Rd. Lyrics 17 years ago
I find this to be the best song on the album, and I'm going to agree with everyone who said that it's about his life, most importantly getting over his alcoholism. Though, personally, I like to think it's about someone going through radiation therapy for cancer or leukemia. It's what first popped into my head, and it fits (for the most part).

But, I suppose my opinion is a little biased with what's going on in my life, but that's what music and lyrics are all about, isn't it? Applying it to your life. That's why lyrics are left vague, for interpretation and association. I'm not a Slipknot fan, but I will give Corey his props. He's a lyrical mastermind, and so many of his songs have so many interpretations. And I don't care what hardcore Slipknot fans say, Stone Sour rocks. I like my vocals to be intelligently coherent - what's the point of vocals if you can't understand what they're saying? Sing away, Corey~
