A Wilhelm Scream – Stab. Stab. Stab. Lyrics 16 years ago
I think it's more directed towards old friends than a romantic relationship. But who knows? Other than that I totally agree with everything

A Wilhelm Scream – Our Ghosts Lyrics 16 years ago
I think it's about someone close who passed away, from an overdose on drugs (the arrows that poisoned your heart).
The whole "I wont pass my judgements" part is probably related to the drugs as well.

The "shit talking committee" is probably everyone who doesn't know the full story or doesn't know the deceased as well as they think they do. This also strikes up images of the funeral in my head.

"I'll be opposed to every argument, Be ill to every lie, I'm not looking to be a hero, I'm not looking for a fight" means that he's not going to try to defend the deceased's drug habit against outside criticism or ignorance, not because he doesn't care, but because it's useless and won't change anything. And that's why he's "explaining [his] position to your ghost".

When they played this song live, Nuno said "this song is about a shipwreck, drugs, and *something else I don't remember*". Really wish I could remember..

I will say there are obvious references to cocaine.

Yeah I don't think this is directly related to religious. Any religious mentions AWS seem to make are usually metaphors.

A Wilhelm Scream – Get Mad, You Son Of A Bitch Lyrics 16 years ago
It's about how we're destroying the world, long story short. Ruining the environment, cutting down trees, filthing up our water, and putting buildings everywhere. It was once a proud and amazing feat to develop our society, but now it's gone overboard. We've got to find another way.

Basically saying that you have to "Get mad, you son of a bitch" and actually stop this. Don't turn a deafened ear and keep killing the world for your paycheque. Stand up for the greater good. Stop raping the Earth. There are other solutions.

A Wilhelm Scream – Famous Friends and Fashion Drunks Lyrics 16 years ago
The song is about ditching your friends for the "cool kids" basically. Im guessing the "cool kids" are someone famous.
This is either from the band's perspective about someone else, or from someone else's perspective about them.

A Wilhelm Scream – Die While We're Young Lyrics 16 years ago
Just going to elaborate:
It's basically saying life is shit, then you die. So it's better to have fun while you're young and die early than to live a long miserable 9-5 dead end life.

However, the very last line "but now we're too old for that" dictates the change in mindstate as you get older. It's always the kids that wanna live fast and die young, but eventually you grow up and get real.

A Wilhelm Scream – Check Request Denied Lyrics 16 years ago
The song is about cocaine.

More specifically, it seems to be about resisting a past addiction.

The 2nd verse that "makes no sense" seems to be about how the drug makes you feel.
Side note: Cohasset is a town in Massachusetts, AWS' home state (the are from New Bedford).

"I stared at heaven through the gates of hell, liked the weather, couldn't stand the smell" is about how good the drug feels, but how bad it really is.

"I left heaven at the gates of hell, and I am never going back" is about quitting the drug.

"The blood from the rock that you can't get enough" could be reference to nosebleeds from snorting too much coke.
The constant references to razors have something to do with the fact that razors are used to chop cocaine up into powder to snort it.

I sincerely doubt AWS would write a song solely based on religion.

A Wilhelm Scream – Cancer Dream Lyrics 16 years ago
It seems to be about having a dream about dying, that scares you straight about something and keeps you in check.

The line "nobody needs nobody after all" means "everybody needs somebody after all".

A Wilhelm Scream – Brand new me, same shitty you Lyrics 16 years ago
Cheating makes total sense.

"It's been breathing fucking heavy for a long fucking time now and it's lost its fucking will to survive." - Basically seems like the relationship was struggling, which could be WHY he cheated, and by doing so, was the nail in the coffin of the relationship.

"And what's so sick, so wrong that you don't want to believe that such a massacre is capable of coming from me? You're gonna lose your lunch. It's gonna blow your mind." - Obviously about coming clean about what he's done, and betraying the trust the significant other had in him.

All the lyrics after this point strongly suggest that he doesn't necessarily regret what he did, because it made him feel better, and will continue to not regret it (stomping the heart out of his conscience, hoping that it dies) because she keeps giving him shit about it.

A Wilhelm Scream – The King Is Dead Lyrics 16 years ago
Obviously largely based around suicide.

The song isn't about pussing out. If you notice, he decides not to jump off the roof, but instead to hang himself in the garage, hence why he's looking at it sideways.

It seems to me that the premise is this; he's made some dire mistakes, and wants to stop fucking things up. So he decides to kill himself.

Lines like "traded my life for art, the guilt is weighing down my arms" makes me think it may have something to do with the pressure of the music industry.
"To absolve the joy from me, is to erase what made me a slave" seems to say "I used to love the idea of being a famous musician, but it's not what I thought it was and now I need to get away from it".

On the other hand, the line "And that your only one's got another robot to take the throne" points in the direction of relationships, and that maybe a girl left him for someone else.
Maybe it has to do with both scenarios?

A Wilhelm Scream – A Picture of the World Lyrics 16 years ago
Seems to me that this song is about being lead on by a girl who apparently wants to be with you, but then ends up falling for someone else.
"I'm gunna burn this picture of the world for all my friends and I" probably means that you're just going to suck it up and get over it, not just for yourself, but because your friends like you better when you're not miserable.

A Wilhelm Scream – The Rip Lyrics 16 years ago
I believe this song is about all those die-hard fans who think of their favourite bands as gods, only to find out that they're not everything they're cracked up to be, and are instead money-grubbing stuck up pricks who don't give 2 shits about their fans.

A Wilhelm Scream – When I Was Alive: Walden III Lyrics 16 years ago
My interpretation of this song is the use of drugs and/or alcohol to "escape" a falling out in a relationship. The book he references, as mentioned above (Walden; or, Life in the Woods by Thoreau) is about achieving complete solitude essentially, which is what the drugs/alcohol represent, whereas the fallen relationship would essentially represent society.
A pretty basic theme with a very clever representation.

Thrice – Of Dust And Nations Lyrics 16 years ago
My initial perception of this song was the constant cycle of birth, destruction, rebirth etc. etc. ("the endless march of sand") and how the cycle will continue until we learn of what life holds outside of our mainly-material society and lifestyle (".. until the sand has made us clean").

It makes me think of past civilizations which we don't really know much about, save for the artifacts and tools and things that we dig up (a more literal interpretation of "Sand will cover them, sand will cover you", as opposed to/in conjunction with the "time" reference).
There have been so many cycles of "apocalypse", I can't help but think that maybe this song is referring to a modern apocalypse we may face, and how our material things that we love so much will be dug up millions of years from now to raise questions about our society and civilization?
In the end though, all of those artifacts and fossils and tools are very miniscule and tell very little about a civilization, especially one like ours ("put your faith in more than steel").
