| Right Away, Great Captain! – Right Ahead, Young Sailor! Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
He's talking to God. At first, he's complaining to him. He says, "you could move mountains; yet you refuse to help me out when I need it." His wife cheats on him, and he wants to kill the man. But he realizes that everything happens for a reason, and his captain (God) would just tell him to move on. Nothing is planned, and life doesn't owe you anything. Andy insists there's only one person who knows the plan, and that's his captain. But really, what's a plan? |

| Circa Survive – Suspending Disbelief Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
I think Anthony is making fun of how so many Christians aren't really Christian, they just needed something to comfort them when their lives aren't going great. "On the way out you decide to believe but on the way out it's too late, it's the same" This means like a self-proclaimed Atheist/Agnostic who really has no idea what religion is - which means they also cannot acknowledge the lack thereof - starts coming toward the end of his life and thinks, "what if all that God shit is true? I'm going to Hell!" and then he starts going to church and thinks that he's set and he's going to Heaven when he dies, but he isn't really a true Christian, he just settled for God when there was nothing else. The religion of Christianity contains millions of these idiots. "Twilight army, with armor made of stone" I think this means we all have the capability to be good people [angels], but we're weighed down by temptation and fright of what may come out of our next action. Like you know, the typical image of an angel bears wings? With armor of stone, the wings would be useless, and we ultimately become useless as well. We become human. "Perpetual startled breed" I think this refers how everyone is afraid of dying. All people care about is if good things happen to them. They want their life to be as good as possible, without consideration to others' feelings or situation. Either that or we are afraid to believe/not believe because we feel either we'll get bashed for our beliefs or we won't be saved when we die. "The writing was still traced and shy and never really aimed to show you" Kinda makes me think that whoever put us on this planet didn't really WANT us to know who he was or what we are supposed to do or become on Earth. We are God's playthings, and we're being watched over and laughed at while we think these trivial things through. All he ever wanted to do is to see what we'd do. |

| Circa Survive – In Fear and Faith Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
Damn punk is love, you're so dull. How the hell do you even get that from this song? I hate it when people read some of the deepest lyrics ever written and automatically assume that EVERY song is about a failed relationship. Anthony Green isn't some whiny pussy who sits in his room writing about all these girls he loved and didn't love him back. Boofuggidyhoo. He actually writes LYRICS. He's a poet. I think this song is partially (not completely) about Eternal Sunshine. The line "the only one who remembers" really brings the movie to mind. The chorus kind of relates to the end scene of Eternal Sunshine (when Clem says "Meet me in Montauk")...like when Joel was talking about leaving and how he should have stayed. He brings Clem through all these memories she wasn't previously in, and he knows that eventually his memory of her will fade, but will enjoy it as it lasts. Basically, no matter how long his memories last (will we make it through winter), they'll eventually fade and it won't matter to him anymore. It will all be gone. I think that the line really is "I can't remember the fall," opposed to the "I can't remember the thaw" line that people are suggesting. My reasoning is that if this song truly is about Eternal Sunshine - and it obviously is somewhat based on it - it's kind of like how Joel was running away from all the fading memories. Joel ran out of all of the memories Clem was actually in, and had to bring her to memories that she wasn't involved in. In a way, he was forced out of fall and into winter. But he doesn't even remember "the fall." |

The first part... All about drugs. Not necessarily Anthony taking them, but being offered them as he inhabits California. Not so sure about the "You can't hold it against them" part...I really don't understand how that line fits into the song. The woman in the lobby... Anthony checks into a hotel or something the first night in California. He receives dirty (or seemingly dirty) looks from a woman in the lobby, and he immediately understands that he's not home; he's an outsider to all these people. The news anchors part... It's about the image of America...what other people see and believe is normal...when he talks about the news people, he isn't necessarily describing certain people, I believe it's just a generalization; an observation of how news channels pick people judging by their looks and drown them in makeup so people will watch the show and feel like they are ugly because everyone on television is good looking. The people on TV are a small fraction of the people on Earth, and not everyone looks like that. The man and his radio... There's so much noise surrounding him in the city. He's not used to it being loud...at all. He expects things but he's disappointed. |

| The Sound of Animals Fighting – I, the Swan Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| The part where the song comes together is at the very end, at the man who pulled at my feathers part. It's like, a swan, the symbol of grace, beauty, and love, so fragile yet so strong, gets picked on and its inner rage lashes out...it's trippy, almost surreal...kind of like they're saying the most beautiful creatures just want to be left to themselves, and deep inside everything lies a hint of violent intentions. It's almost like the world is an unfinished painting upon a canvas of the swan...I sound so stoned right now, but I'm really not, it's just this song that does it to me...really a thinker. It's hard to explain. | |

It's about God. He's saying that if God is as great as everyone says he is, he'd show himself, and teach everyone to be as great as he is and make the world a much better place. "'cause if you're half as good as you say you are, then you can prove it." |

| System of a Down – Shimmy Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
Shimmy doesn't mean to have sex, it means to get by. The chorus just describes the American Dream. "I want life, I want a house and a wife, I want to shimmy to the break of dawn..." It's the basis of the American Dream, to have a nice house, nice wife, 2.5 children, a dog, and to just...get by in life, until life ends. |

| Chiodos – Is It Progression If A Cannibal Uses A Fork? Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
The chorus is from Edgar Allan Poe's "The Bells," which is just about the progression of life...Step 1: being born, Step 2: Growing up and getting married, Step 3: Death, and Step 4: The afterlife. This song is about getting married and being betrayed...The hell that life really is. "The Bells" Edgar Allan Poe Hear the loud alarm bells --- Brazen bells! What a tale of terror, now, their turbulency tells! In the startled ear of night How the scream out their affright! Too much horrified to speak, They can only shriek, shriek, Out of tune, In a clamorous appealing to the mercy of the fire, In a mad expostulation with the deaf and frantic fire, Leaping higher, higher, higher, With a desperate desire, And a resolute endeavor Now --- now to sit, or never, By the side of the pale-faced moon. Oh, the bells, bells, bells! What a tale their terror tells Of despair! ^^^^^ See? (: I had to read this poem for my English class, and I was like, whoa! Chiodos! Edgar Allan Poe kicks ass! (:(:(: |

| Chiodos – Modern Wolf Hair Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
The lyrics to this song are so not Chiodos. This song disappoints me. You can tell that the band is advancing, and they found a GREAT new singer. But when they lost Craig, they lost his beautiful lyrics. He wrote the best songs ever. I miss him dearly, and Chiodos will never be the same, but that doesn't mean they can't get better. Breakdown is sick, but the words...they just seem so plain to me. But, that's just my opinion. |

| Chiodos – Teeth The Size Of Piano Keys Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Craig doesn't copy things, he uses them to his own extent. Ever heard of artistic evaluation? Craig Owens has taken many parts from William Shakespeare, addressing them in such a way that relates to his own life. He asks permission, ask Bukowski. This song is beautiful, and the way you down-grade and offend it is humiliating yourself. Just stop. I think this song is about him proposing to a woman in front of many people, after him doing unjust things to her, and the woman saying "no," instead of giving him a second chance. Now, instead of having the girl of his dreams, he's alone, with nobody feeling sorry for him, having ruined his chances with someone who really liked him to begin with. |

| A Day to Remember – Over My Head (Cable Car) (The Fray cover) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
It's weird, every time ADTR covers a song, the lyrics sound like THEY wrote the song. Especially Since U Been Gone. That was the craziest thing I heard, how they could sing a Kelly Clarkson song, make it sound better, and at the same time, speak the lyrics as if it came from Jeremy McKinnon first. o.O They did the same thing with the Fray, and I love it! Shows how good of a band A Day to Remember really is, you know? And to think they actually fit in the screaming parts well! I love the screams in this song, and I disagree with most people about those parts. Just because the original is softer and more mainstream, doesn't mean that A Day to Remember can't give it a little more flavor. I love it. |

| Chiodos – Ravishing Matt Ruth Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I think that someone kept hurting Craig when he was younger, but nobody listened to what he had to say, because maybe that person was a close family friend, or maybe even family. I think the "run run" part has to do with a gun or something. I think he was so scared he considered killing himself or the person harming him, hence, "evil thoughts." | |
| Dr. Acula – Vampire Blood Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| This song is OBVIOUSLY about werewolves. Lmao. | |
| God Dethroned – Swallow The Spikes Lyrics | 16 years ago |

I kind of agree with you two, but to an extent. Sic, I don't think God is fake, I think the Bible is. The thing that doesn't make sense to me is the fact that the English language wasn't invented until around 1000 AD, and the first language was either Hebrew or Latin, and those weren't even thought of until AFTER the Bible's time period ended. And, weren't the main chapters of the Bible based in Heaven? Were they speaking Heavenese or something? Paper and writing didn't exist till after, either. Digital, I agree with that statement, despite the fact you are also saying God is fake. Satanics don't make sense to me. Would there be a Devil if there was no God himself? The Devil is from the religion of Christianity, and if you don't believe in Jesus Christ, then you shouldn't believe or worship Lucifer, the Anti-Christ. There would be no Anti-Christ without just plain old Christ. I believe that the Bible was written around the 1400s, (first copy) simply to be another religion to get into fights about. Christians who argue with non-believers are for one, stupid, they don't believe - and for two, not Christian at all, for breaking one of the Ten Commandments, no false idols. Depends on who you believe in, am I correct? False idols to Satan would be anyone from Perez Hilton to Jesus Christ, and people that worship them could say the same exact thing, and people would believe it. That's what makes me mad. |

| Chiodos – Teeth The Size Of Piano Keys Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| That's one of their influences on music, they also named "Bone Palace Ballet" after him. Another one of his books. Sue them. Go ahead. Nobody who writes perfect songs are completely original. Craig Owens is still THE BEST songwriter in the history of the world, and the most underrated singer in America. Thank you for sharing that, though. | |

| Chiodos – The Undertaker's Thirst for Revenge Is Unquenchable (The Final Battle) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
CORRECT lyrics to: The Undertaker's Thirst for Revenge is Unquenchable by Chiodos My eyes are blistered with the ghosts of our past, And memories that we once had. Now that you've turned the world against me, I'm only trying to win them back. With my eyes to the sun, I shut down and bathe in these words about me. And now you're standing alone with your eyes to the sun, Standing alone with your eyes to the sun. Heaven and Earth, May strike their sounds together. Worlds are run this way, And we've all been there time and time again. [The moments] Before the battle always seem so still. And I will see you someday again in the clouds. And I will see you someday again in the clouds. All the world's a stage, And all the world's a stage. With my eyes to the sun, I shut down and bathe in these words about me. And now you're standing alone with your eyes to the sun, Standing alone with your eyes to the sun. Heaven and Earth, May strike their sounds together. Worlds are run this way, And we've all been there time and time again. My eyes are blistered with the ghosts of our past, And what we once had. And all the world's a stage. I existed because I dreamed, and well, I dream no more. I've given up on the entire human race. I believe that Craig Owens is singing about his attempt at suicide at the Warped Tour 2008, or, since I'm pretty sure this song was written before the Warped Tour, it could be about his thoughts of doing what he tried to do at Warped Tour. The ending, "I've given up on the entire human race," is saying that he has just flat-out given up on life. I think the lyrics "I will see you someday again in the clouds," is talking about somebody that he loved that died, which is the basis of this song in my opinion, as it ties to the "Ghosts of our past" and "Memories we once had," and more, and how Craig would see them in Heaven once he goes, from his suicide attempt. I believe this person MAY be Janelle? If that is a true name, and not just a simple metaphor of someone else. I think that this song ties to many other songs written by the amazing Craig Owens, including "A Letter From Janelle," "Ravishing Matt Ruth," (I think that Matt Ruth - possibly a metaphor, just like Janelle - has to do with "Now that you've turned the world against me," with "world" being "Janelle")and more. That's only what I believe though. Hope I helped clearing it up. Remember - this is only my opinion. |

| A Day to Remember – Welcome to the Family (feat. Vincent Bennett) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
CORRECT lyrics to: Welcome to the Family by A Day to Remember. We're finally alone at last Oh how I've waited for this day to come There's just something about you that rubs me wrong (you're not worth my attention) I built this with my own two hands and you can spare me the time, stop using me as your next misconception. (Chorus) I don't believe that everything you've known about me is gone forever And I wont forget the days that we spent forever It haunts me (x2) It wont be long before your misery. you're nothing more than a passing trend. so keep those cameras rolling. you thought I wouldn't remember, you thought that I would lose faith in myself. you can spare me the lies, you don't believe in me, you're life's a contradiction. (Chorus) I don't believe that everything you've known about me is gone forever And I won't forget the days that we spent forever It haunts me (x2) We draw the line at being in your life. Here's to the man of the hour, We'll cast all problems aside. Cheers to your future, May they bury you alive. MOVE! (Chorus) I don't believe that everything you've known about me is gone forever And I wont forget the days that we spent forever It haunts me (x2) |

| A Day to Remember – Why Walk on Water When We've Got Boats Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I think everybody is going WAY too deep into the title of this song. I think it's more simple than all of you guys are making it sound. Way more simple. I believe this song is simply about the Jesus Freaks. I think it's telling them and the rest of the world that you can be of the Christian religion without being to "into" it. What I mean by saying that is this: You can be a Christian without being a complete psycho about God, and you'll still be respected by Jesus as much as you were before, if the Bible is all fact, not fiction. The title, "Why Walk on Water When We've Got Boats" is simply saying that you don't have to base your ENTIRE life on Jesus Christ, you don't have to. There are other things in life than God. That's my opinion/interpretation. |
|
| Pinkly Smooth – Mezmer Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I am pretty sure that he says "Today I SOLD my brother," and not "Today I SAW my brother". But, I'm not entirely sure. I think that what you get out of these lyrics is something The Rev could only give you. I believe he is singing about him helping his brother, maybe his metaphorical brother, more along the lines of one of his best friends, overdose, or simply commit suicide. I do not think that The Rev had anything to do with this, but as many Avenged Sevenfold fans know, A7X's old bassist had a failed suicide attempt from drug overdose. Perhaps he is talking about his brother, his friend, his old band-mate? Doubt that I am right, but it seems like it would be a possibility. I think that is only a part of the song's meaning, if a part at all, if the song even HAS a meaning to it, other than confuse the listener. If I am right in stating this, the rest of the lyrics are to be interpreted differently from listener to listener. I think The Rev wrote half the song about one person, and the other half on another. I'm not entirely sure on any of this - but I hope you will read this and actually READ it. |
