The Allman Brothers Band – Mountain Jam Lyrics 13 years ago
I was about 9yo (1972) when my sister came home with this rather plain looking album.... painting of a peach in a toy truck; ... I had to wait till my older sister left the house, then I sneeked into her room, and opened up the album...WOW what a cool painting... EAT a PEACH; Dedicated to a brother: Duane Allman
Knowing nothing about this band at 9 years old, by pure fate I pulled out one of the albums.. and put on Mountain Jam... The rest is truly history. Those opening notes, I couldn't get them out of my mind. The song just blew me away. I shoveled the driveway so that my Mom would buy me my own copy of Eat a Peach. For me Mountain Jam started a 40+ year love of music and guitar playing. Duane Allman- you are truly missed; rest in peace Brother!

The Allman Brothers Band – Blue Sky Lyrics 17 years ago
Blue Sky is an incredible song. Rose Hill Cemetery in Macon GA was a place the band would go and eat mushrooms and get high. There is a little wall edging the gravestone area of one 'Elizabeth Jones Reed', that has beautiful tree shade and looks over the train tracks. It was Dickeys 'spot' where he would go chill out and write music. On a beautiful early spring day Dickey wrote Blue Sky there. It's real close to where Duane and Berry are laid and about 100 yards from the small statue of 'Litte Martha'

Either you have NO Clue about guitar or duel lead playing or your just upset that your George Micheal 'Wham' cd started skipping or was it that your little sister torn your 'Justin Timberlake' poster off your bedroom wall.

Dickey and Duane only played this song twice in concert before Duanes passing. In both concerts Duane played the first lead..dicky next. However on the album (East a Peach) If you listen carefully Duane starts, then Dickey, then Duane, then Dickey..again if you listen carefully and listen to the breaks in the song it's two different guitars! (Duane was playing his 58 Paul/ Dickey an SG) They go back and forth throughout both leads! Just listen carefully and you'll hear the lead changes. I had always thought they were playing back and forth but never confirmed....until I had a conversation about 20 years ago with Doug Grey about of the Marshall Tucker Band (MTB was also a Capricorn artist) and he confirmed it for me.

The Allman Brothers Band – Ain't Wastin' Time No More Lyrics 17 years ago
This song was this first (I am quite sure) song Greg wrote after Duane died. According to Randy Poes book "Skydog" a bio of Duane, as well as other articles I've read...Duane was a Happening dude. He was on a mission, and had a magnetic personality...Dickey once described Duane as a "Triple Scoprio"..a daredevil on a mission. And according to Greg one of Duanes favorite sayings was "Lets get the show on the road"...he was always on the move and disliked idle time. It is a very heartfelt and beautiful song about...the founding Brother. Rest in Peace
