| The Academy Is... – Every Burden Has a Version Lyrics | 17 years ago |

I think it's about a girl, so desperate to be accepted, taht she's making herself into something else. But by doing this, even though she has all the "friends" she could ever want, she'll "never be quite satisfied" because she isn't living up to who she really is. "There's not much left inside your chest, but it's worth much more than what you see" is saying, you've sort of sold your soul to be accepted, but it's what's on the inside, and how big your heart is, that counts, not what you look like and how many friends you have. |

I think this song is about wanting someone to notice you so badly, and knowing that you would be perfect together, but they don't see it either. You get so sick waiting around, and you finally tell yourself that you can make it along without them, even though it hurts. It's about being sick of wanting them so desperately, but not having the feelings being returned. I can completely relate. =/ |

| The Academy Is... – The Test Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Such an amazing song. To me, it's about someone, specifically a girl that he's interested in, and he's trying to impress her, hence "look like a lush, talk like a tease, the way you like it," and he can't figure her out. Sometimes she acts like she's interested ("in front of your house, alone on the street, you ask me to come inside") but then all the sudden she flips ("you hang me out to dry"). He gets the feeling that she doesn't care about him like he cares about her. He's not sure exactly how she feels about him, and feels like maybe she's testing him to see if he's what she wants. He thinks that it's a waste of his time to keep trying and calling, because she isn't showing any interest in him. The line "you're a stranger I know well, and not at all" to me is saying that at times it feels like he knows her better than anyone else in the world, but at other times, he can't figure her out at all. |

| The Academy Is... – Everything We Had Lyrics | 17 years ago |

It's like the ending of a relationship, hence "everything we had, is no longer there." But it's more than just the ending of a relationship. It's about remembering everything that they shared together before they broke up, and the pain of still being in love with them. The line "I'm no gentleman, I can be a prick, and I do regret more than I admit" to me is him saying, I know I'm not perfect, and I make mistakes, but I don't want to dwell on them. "I'll be with you where ever you go" to me is him saying, no matter what happens, a part of me will always love you. Truly and amazing song. Very well written. |

| The Academy Is... – His Girl Friday Lyrics | 17 years ago |

To me, this song is about a guy who is hooking up with a girl, despite the fact that she has a boyfriend. They aren't necessarily in it because it's wrong, but because they like sneaking around and having a dirty little secret. The line that says "just a kiss, he won't miss. I know you're going to miss this as long as you live. When you were mine" to me is just saying that her boyfriend doesn't necessarily know what he has, and that if she decides to be faithful to him, she'll miss what she has with him, because he realizes that she's special. The other line that sticks out to me is "If he knew, what I knew, he'd thank god it's Friday. He's out of luck, I'm with you." To me it's like he's saying that her boyfriend wouldn't be happy to loose her to him. But at the same time, it's too bad for the boyfriend, because he wants to be with her and have the boyfriend out of the picture. |
