The song reminds me of the Fall of Icarus* in greek mythology. "I'm a fly, I'll die tomorrow / So give me all you've got" -> As Icarus was an escaped prisoner, he would have been killed as soon as he landed on King Minos' ground. Death was waiting for him, so he decided to give his all during the flight. "I so believe, I so believe" indicates a sense of invincibility. "And out here in this foreign place I have let you down I've fallen for a foreign face And I've fallen to the ground" Flying in a wide, unknown sky, Icarus fell for "a foreign face" (the face of the sun) and, as a result, fell to the ground. And by falling down, he let is father down, too, for he didn't listen to his warnings. "I've gone in blinding, scorching sun And fallen to my knees" The sun blinded Icarus to the dangers of flying, scorched his wings, and brought him to his knees. "And I've forgotten what I believed" -> When falling down, Icarus is brought back to reality; "And I so believe, I so believe / In the good in all of us" might be his final realization before death. It's a sad story but I don't think it's a sad song. Though the person is falling/dying, he or she comes to realize there is still good in the world. Laura Marling always make happy things seem sad and sad things happy. It's one of her greatest strengths in my opinion. * Brief summary: "In order to escape king Minos' labyrinth, Daedalus crafted gigantic wings by connecting branches of osier together with wax. He taught his son Icarus how to fly, but told him to keep away from the sun because the heat would make the wax melt, destroying the wings. Although he was warned, Icarus got so excited by the thrill of flying and carried away by the amazing feeling of freedom that he started flying high to salute the sun, diving low to the sea, and then up high again. His father Daedalus was trying in vain to make young Icarus to understand that his behavior was dangerous, and Icarus soon saw his wings melting. Icarus fell into the sea and drowned." goose bumps! such an emotional song :] the lyrics are quite simple, but i think the meaning behind the song is very deep... it's about how people keep saying that... life sucks... and then you die... so why bother anyway? it's not worth the pain. they dont see what they're doing it all for... but then she's like: i dont care, i will live my life and never stop loving, no matter how much it hurts... "And I will love until my heart it breaks" -> she knows love can be painful, and that it can break her heart, but that wont stop her. "And I will love until there's nothing more to live for"... |

I think this song can be interpreted in many different ways... It's all about identification. To me, this song describes exactly how I feel about a *specific* someone... Four years ago, he asked me if I wanted to be his girlfriend, but I turned him down. Not because I didn't like him, just because... I was too afraid. Anyway, I never stopped liking him, but he lost interest and had many other girlfriends since then... That's where the song comes in. I've been trying to make him notice me, but it doesn't work... He doesn't know I like him. Doesn't see me. Best part of the song :) The "I was born to to tell you I love you" part is beautiful too, offcourse, it's just that... He says he is born to TELL her he loves her...
