The Magnetic Fields – Quick! Lyrics 12 years ago
I kind of wish that it was "What a waste of all those YEARS" instead of "beers". I feel like that would have been more meaningful. Oh well. Great song!

I agree. This song is so beautiful but then when the drums and that little keyboard riff come in at the end, it kind of ruins it for me.

TV on the Radio – Killer Crane Lyrics 13 years ago
I don't know for sure, but I think "This laugh of love and lie tingle" is supposed to be "This life of love and letting go". That makes more sense to me.

This really is a beautiful song. Kind of reminds me of Thank You by Led Zeppelin.

John Lennon – Imagine Lyrics 14 years ago
I'm guessing that I'm in the minority here but Lennon's description of world peace doesn't sound too good to me. Don't get me wrong, though, I'm all for world peace. I just think there's a better way.
First he asks us to imagine that there is no heaven, but the hope that there is something more after we die is part of what gets me through life. I don't want to believe that when I die I'll just be another rotting body in the ground. That's depressing.
Then he wants us to think about the world with no countries. The reason I like this planet is because of how diverse it is. Everybody comes from somewhere else and has their own personal beliefs and traditions. I understand that Lennon wants us all to be blind to the differences and become one loving country but I don't think that's the right way to go about achieving peace. We don't need to be blind to what makes us different from one another; we need to see it and accept it.
In the last verse, Lennon asks that we give up all possessions and share what we have with the rest of the world. This part isn't so bad, but I like having my own possessions. Sometimes you just need something of your own.
I like Lennon's intentions with this song but I don't think the world he describes is that great. To get world peace we need to accept everyone's opinions and beliefs and love one another for who they are. Unfortunately, though, this will never happen because there will always be people like Matt on the first page who feel the need to insult anyone who has an opinion that differs from their own.

I think the "out single file, nine in a row" part might be about the people that died at Rokslide

Pearl Jam – Fuck Me in the Brain Lyrics 17 years ago
They sang this because people in the crowd started throwing shoes at the band. Eddie said that they were going to donate the shoes to charity. I don't know if they ever did though.
