Death Cab for Cutie – What Sarah Said Lyrics 17 years ago
I think by taking too much means he's taken too many breaths, like he's trying to preserve life as he's watching someone he loves die. Kind of realizing how precious "the breath of life" is, so he's rationing his breaths. Also because of the ICU smells, it might in some way taint him to keep breathing the air.

Disturbed – Down with the Sickness Lyrics 17 years ago
The way he says "mommy" implies that he was a child when the abuse took place. If you were ever abused by a parent, wanting to kill them is probably one of the nicer thoughts you'd have. If you're abused for a length of time your mind starts getting really creative about exactly what you'd do to them, so I don't think it's really that "messed up". What's messed up is the fact that his mom abused him in the first place.

I disagree...I think he's talking about his own mother, because of the part where he starts screaming and begging her to stop hurting him. "And when I dream..." it's like a memory that he relives. That's a bit too personal to have such a broad meaning.

10 Years – The Recipe Lyrics 17 years ago
Just as a side note, when his voice echoes, I think he says:

"Evil's in the stink of you
think of you
drink of you"

I can't tell exactly what he says in the "weaken" part but it sounds like

"I begin to weaken you
deep in you
deep in you"

She Wants Revenge – Rachael Lyrics 17 years ago
"There is no Rachael" is something I think Adam said once. Rachael is supposed to signify the love interest in anyone's life. She's supposed to symbolize someone who outwardly seems to be well-established and almost overly strong, but inside carries the burdens of the world and really is very human with vulnerable moments. I think in this song he's trying to tell "Rachael" not to take on the pain of others, because not everything is always as it seems to be.

Blue October – Dirt Room Lyrics 17 years ago
Mm, that's a really good way of looking at it too. The only thing that makes me kind of skeptical about that being the meaning is some of the very personal things he says like "now you're mine" and talking about wanting to take a picture to put it on the album. When you're struggling with addiction, you don't really want to advertise the ugly part of yourself. Mostly you're either in denial or you feel ashamed, and you don't want anyone to know.

Like others here, I think this song has to do with someone involved with the record label or management of the band but I also think that Justin was personally involved with this person in some way. The lyrics sound too angry and personal to be about some random exec that screwed them over. The line "finally you're mine" could be him just saying "you're mine now, you jerk" but it seems sort of personal to say it that way. Almost like he finally got that person's trust or affection and now he's going to take advantage of it. Also, I think he says this line differently:

"I won't see you, oh
'cause your back's against the wall"

I think he's saying "I won't see you crawl, 'cause your back's against the wall". That makes more sense to me. :)
