It's interesting how The Flaming Lips wrote this song as well as covering Death Valley '69 by Sonic Youth, which is also about Charles Manson. The murders were crazy events that affected many people. |

Well, the band appears to be quite interested in Mars, as Wayne states several times that he wants to go there. There's also Christmas on Mars, the band's (incredibly entertaining) movie. I think they're intrigued by extraterrestrials (did I spell that correctly?). This song sounds so much like The Pixies. |

I have been thinking the same as wizzardsmith, that this song was inspired by V.U.'s The Gift (which is a magnificent song as well). Lee is such an amazing songwriter. I get the feeling that he reads a lot. |
