The Cars – Let's Go Lyrics 17 years ago
This song is about a party girl-- a young free spirit, the one you'd like to possess, but it's all you can do to keep up with her. We've all had this chick in our lives at one point or another.

Blitz – Someones Gonna Die Lyrics 17 years ago
Actually, Philadelphia Eagles fans are worse than most soccer fans in the UK and elsewhere. I read an article that incidents of violence at Eagles games (and American sporting events in general) are much more common than at soccer matches, despite the hype to the contrary-- it's just that American sporting events are less likely to erupt in full-scale riots that make news. Shit, in the old Veteran's Stadium here there was even a court and jail-cells in the basement it was so bad.

But great song, great band-- yeah, that part of your comment I can't add to!

UK Subs – Warhead Lyrics 17 years ago
In my opinion, this is arguably one of the most prophetic songs ever written. Released in 1980, barely one year after the start of the Soviet-Afghan War, this song seems to predict that the war will be the crucible for Islamic jihad against the West. It even seems to deliver a "reap what you sow" message (You stand there beating on your little war drum...but it won't be long until your time has come), which is a theme found in some people's post-9/11 analysis of the CIA's support for the mujahadeen during the Soviet-Afghan War. While the rest of us are seeing clearly in hindsight, the UK Subs' foresight, I would argue, is uncannily accurate in this song, and, in my opinion, it's a shame this song does not get more credit and appreciation for its dark and accurate prophecy.

UK Subs – AK47 Lyrics 17 years ago
This song is about the Avomat Kalashnikova 1947 or AK-47, the most popular assault rifle in the world. Designed by an enlisted Red Army tanker, Mikhail Kalashnikov, while recuperating from wounds sustained in WWII (Great Patriotic War in USSR/Russia), , the AK-47 quickly became the world's most used assault rifle due to its simple design, ease of use, cheap manufacture, robustness, effectiveness and legendary reliability. It is believed that the AK-47 has killed more people than any other single model of rifle, and almost three times as many AKs have been produced as its next closest competitor, the AR-15 (M-16).

Due to the ubiquitousness of the AK and its immediately recognizable, unique design, the weapon has taken on an almost legendary status in global culture. The venerable rifle has come to symbolize many things to many people-- civil strife, guerilla warfare, Communism, crime and, yes, even freedom-- sometimes many or all these things at once. It has even found itself incorporated into Mozambique's flag and coat of arms.

Long before Ice Cube and other rappers spit about AKs, this UK Subs song seems to focus primarily on the civil strife and criminal symbolism of the AK-47, and perhaps, even the freedom-fighter aspect (from the description of the prophet with the AK-47, but this is certainly debatable).
