This could be completely wrong, but it could be worth noting this line could potentially be a pun...
"The stranger's voice said nothing good"
As in...
"The Stranger's voice said nothing good"
The Stranger is one of Seattle's alternative newspapers. Robin Pecknold doesn't seem to be too big of a fan, judging by some recent going ons. |

My favorite so far off the album. Just on the first listen it sounds as it might be about two lovers, with the singer looking back on the relationship. Something like that.
Love it! |

A perfect ending to the album by Relient K, yet again. This is definitely seems like it's about his ex-fiance. The last verse about meeting the devil and staring into her eyes is brilliance and has given me shivers on every listen. The piano during the "I've been convincing myself that I'm worthwhile/cause I'm worth what I'll convince myself to be" is haunting. Great ending to their most mature album (and very possibly their best, at least certainly in a long time). |

Great way to finish Shaka Rock. Really a great ballad that many will probably be able to relate to. And it feels like it's going to grow on me a lot more. |

Some Noel Gallagher songs may mean nothing (see: 1998-2003), but there's no doubt this one along with many on Dig Out Your Soul do. And you're right, this song is definitely Noel talking to a God he doesn't believe exists.
P.S. - I'm Outta Time is a brilliant, brilliant song. |

Wow, excellent interpretations. Gotta agree... it's about my millionth time listening to the album and it feels like new thanks to you what you've said. I always got the sense of what you said with Falling Down, but now I notice it in the other Noel-written songs, too.
Nice job. |

No one has really commented on what the lyrics really mean...
In my opinion, the song is all about having your lover/best friend by your side in times of trouble. Forget about your sins, their sins... forget everything. The only thing that matters is that you're with the person you should be with and in the end everything will be alright (a theme in so many Oasis songs). |
