its about Trent's battle with addiction.. i think the "she" refers to whatever drugs he was on during that period of time.. "she turns me on" is saying he is irresistible to drugs, that he has to apologize for the way he feels cuz he once again gives into drugs during his battle of quitting.. "My life, it seems, has taken a turn Why in the name of God would I ever want to return? Peel off our skin, we're gonna burn what we were to the ground Fuck in the fire, and we'll spread all the ashes around I want to kill away the rest of what's left And I do... yes, I do" this verse clearly suggests that he's already on the verge of quitting or at least trying really hard, that his life is finnaly taking a turn from his old abusive way ... however he is not yet fully revocered and is constantly tempted by indulging back drugs becuz the addiction is still there.... thats why he asks himself why in the name of god he would wannna return... and he really does wanna kill away "the rest" of his addiction and burn all his abusive past to the ground |
