| Muse – Shine Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I think its about Bellamy's feelings after his parents divorced. Its evident in the last verse there, where he's basically singing about how angry and upset he was over the break up and how it actually hurts him. | |
| Oingo Boingo – Can't See (Useless) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
This is actually a really beautiful song, personally I think this is the best off their last album. The song, I think, has a couple of interpretations. 1. It could mean losing someone that the person telling the story was madly in love with, but she left him for whatever reason, and she's moved on and is with someone else. She just doesn't acknowledge the him anymore or his feelings he still has for her. He struggles with this reality, as his feelings seem to be eating him alive at this point. 2. It could also be about a family member, or just a family in general. They used to have been close once, but at some point drifted away and no longer have that close relationship. I think its possible that the person had become so eaten up with drugs that his family has basically shunned him (much like in Mary, which is also on the album). No matter how hard he tries to clean up his life, his family still rejects him, either out of embarrassment or disgust. The rejection clearly hurts him, as he simply wants to be loved and have their acceptance. Either way, the end I think possibly denotes him possibly taking his own life, unable to live with the rejection any longer. If he can't live with them and have their love, then he has no point in living. |

| Oingo Boingo – Little Guns Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Or, its simply a song about tiny people going to war. I wouldn't put it past Oingo Boingo. :D | |
| Oingo Boingo – Little Guns Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I think its a song that mocks militarism. They belittle the idea of invading and going to war (at least unnecessarily) by basically calling the whole idea small minded, hence the use of words like tiny and small. Its basically making fun of people who simply think going to war will solve the world's or region's problems when in truth it can make things worse. | |
| Muse – Nishe Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I actually really like this instrumental, very subdued yet really listenable. Plus I think it really showcases Chris' talents, then again, I'm a bass player (a terrible one at that), so I'm quite biased. | |
| Muse – Spiral Static Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I think its about a relationship in which the girl expects too much from the boy, while the boy doesn't really appreciate what she does for him. It probably devolves into just a mess of a relationship because of those problems. | |
| Muse – The House of the Rising Sun (Animals cover) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Its a traditional American folk song, but it was popularized by the Animals. However, Bob Dylan and Nina Simone recorded it before them. I don't think anyone really knows who the original writers of the song was. | |

This is also on the Cave Single, if you can find it. The lyrics are off here. Confide in me Sustain all my apathy You're such a mess You can learn not to confess You will not find it in me Simply because I can't Wake up and find it in me I'm in a coma You will not find it in me And you'll reveal all your pains again We'll fall asleep So deeply out of reach For years feeling dead We can fall right out of bed You will not find it in me Simply because I can't Wake up and find it in me I'm in a coma You will not find it in me And you'll reveal all your pains again Hey, such a mess but I don’t care Simply because I can’t Wake up and find it in me I'm in a coma You will not find it in me And you'll reveal all your pains again |

| Oingo Boingo – Running on a Treadmill Lyrics | 17 years ago |

One of my more favorite Oingo Boingo songs, and perhaps among the more underrated. I think its just about a relationship of some sort that's just going nowhere and the singer is finally realized that. |

| Oingo Boingo – Nasty Habits Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I have to agree with MrsO426, the song seems to me that he's making fun of society's taboo about certain things. I think Danny Elfman thinks its silly how people have to go well out of their way to keep their "nasty habit" a secret, so that no one will know or get any pre-conceived notions of what kind of person they are because of their kinks and fetishes. I also always thought it celebrated nasty habits, how people shouldn't be ashamed of what turns them on because of what society "thinks" is appropriate. |

| Muse – Crying Shame Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I think this song has a political undertone to it. Sort of how a country (US, UK, etc) which once was strong has now just decreased into a former shell of itself somewhere along the line, and its too late to really go back and improve things. Its gotten to the point where the people are desensitized by TV and they don't care or don't know what's going on, and corporations have the government in a choke hold, that kind of thing. The line "And its time to desecrate" could be a potential call for the people to rebel and change things themselves. "And we demolished too much / And yeah we really fucked it up" could mean possibly the destruction of wilderness and nature in favor of more suburbs or commercial buildings, or it could easily mean going to war and severely messing up. (And with this being a B-Side on the Black Holes and Revelations album, the theme would fit) | |
