| Flobots – There's A War Going On For Your Mind Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Wow, I can't believe no-one has written about this songs meaning. I'll keep this post short- not much time, but seen as every line means something different, I could write an essay. "There's a war going on for your mind" This line is leading us into the song. The Flobots use this line more than once on their album- the repition makes us think more and more about the line and it's meaning. They mean that each and every one of us can do amazing things, and help make the world a better place, or we can simply go with the flow and continue to succumb to the social mores of our time, and not really change everything. We can accept things the way they are and let higher powers decide how we live our lives and let them (possibly) abuse that power slyly or we can take action and be interested. We can THINK and be aware of whats going on around us. The "war" is between ignorance and truth. I believe in truth and so do the Flobots. What do you belive in? |

| Gym Class Heroes – Cookie Jar (feat. The-Dream) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Why are so many people saying the song is about cookies! Ever heard of a metaphor?! Cookies are used as an extended metaphor for girls. He can't help sleeping with other girls. "I want be faithful But I cant keep my hands out the cookie jar." The cookie jar being all the avaliable girls. "I left crumbs in the bed once" This will be a refernece to evidence that he's slept with someone else- eg. someone else's bra, thong "I got a thing for Milano, Biscotti Italianos And I never turn down some Oreos if you got them Butter Pecan, Puerto Rican, Or them Oatmeal Raisin Asians. Hazelnut Brazilians, Macadamia Caucasians" The metaphor slips here, so we know he's not actually talking about cookies. eg. "Butter Pecan" - type of cookie "Puerto Rican" - place where girl is from. this whole exerpt is the same. it's goes on but i'm bored now. good song, catchy |

So yeah, it means that people need to think about life and government. Not to just go with the flow and not to "believe everything that you read" if you want society to move on and become better. the start is good: "i saw a dried up river and a rich man turning on a garden hose, i see a young man picking up a gun i guess that's where the money goes" this obviously talks about the inequality that exists and how pointless it is and why the rich [[that's including you and me]] should think and act abouts happening. "am i jus as good as a bad man sleeping when the rest are dying or am i jus as bad as a good man saying theres no use of trying" just as it's bad as letting people die, it's also wrong to assume "there's no point in trying". there's always point in trying, there is always hope. |

| The Black Eyed Peas – The APL Song Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| This quite possibly is my favourite songs of all time. I can listen to it on repeat all day. It has such meaning. And I have never met anyone who has ever heard of it, never mind like it. | |
