i can see how this song would be about self-harm, because it feels like the lyrics are screaming that in your face. but if you look deeper into it, i don't think thats what it really means. a lot of times when something hard like a breakup or a death or something like that happens, a person doesn't want to deal with all the hurt so they numb themselves and never really get over it. to me, he doesn't want to numb himself. if he takes the pain directly, everything is more real and he's allowing himself to feel. |

yeah, i agree with femalemaggot on the parents thing. at first i felt like it was a boyfriend/girlfriend song, but i listened to it once when i was really mad at my parents and it made sense that way. his mother and/or father is trying to steer him onto a road that he has long ago left behind. he tries to make it through and get his parents to accept that he is not neccessarily a bad person just because he isn't exactly what they want, but they don't listen so he gives up. |
