I agree with the earlier comments that this song is about his [Simon Neil] mother's death. I think this song is the follow up to folding stars and that now he is over his mother's death and he is now stronger, but he is stronger because his mother lives on inside him. I can't make much sense of the verses but the chorus is pretty clear to me: I took a ride, I took a ride, I wouldn't go there without you, <-- This is about his interpretation of whatever comes after death Let's take a ride, let's take a ride, and whatever this is, he won't go there without his mum. I wouldn't leave here without you. I am the mountain, I am the sea, <-- This's a metaphor for the strength he now has now he's over it. You can't take that away from me. Cos you tear us apart, With all the things you don't like, You can't understand, <-- Same as first part.
