| Alice in Chains – Real Thing Lyrics

Clearly about drugs, probably cocaine, and maybe trying to get off them. I always thought "made the blade my new toy" was a metaphor for doing stupid/dangerous stuff. I also think "going down the steps on a white line" could be like attempting or being forced to do a 12-step program; rehab is clearly mentioned in the song anyways.
"Take it away, don't want no more
Even if you say just one more
I won't leave you alone"
I kinda think thats about thinking like "I'll quit, I'll stop using, etc" and then having withdrawl and stuff set in and wanting/needing to have more. |

Lol. I get horny when I hear Real Thing...and Confusion...and Them Bones (especially the screaming bit at the beginning)...and basically anything with Layne singing-his voice just does that to me! This song however does not make me horny, I can never seem to really remember listening to it that much. It's kinda weird and trippy! |

According to James he wrote it about Michelle Trachtenburg. My friend saw him live a couple of nights ago and he introduced it by saying it was about her. |

| Megadeth – Holy Wars... The Punishment Due Lyrics

Senior year in high school I had to do a song meaning presentation thing for English and choose this. Apparently he was originally inspired to write it after going to Ireland and witnessing all the tension between North Ireland and Ireland. But like everyone's been saying about how religion makes people do all sorts of crazy stuff they wouldn't otherwise do, I think there's a little bit of religion is the opiate of the masses going on here too. Second half was totally inspired by The Punisher comics, but I love how at the end the two parts get tied together since he mentions taking his thoughts away-like religion can do and also mercy killings which are religiously based. |

I definitly agree, its the really sad thing about a lot of bands. Horrible that they're addicted to drugs, but if they weren't there would be so many amazing songs that never would have come about. So you're almost glad that they are/were, but horrified at the same time. |

| Stone Temple Pilots – Sex Type Thing Lyrics

Alive is part fictional and part autobiographical, about when his mother told him about his real dad, then about the mother raping her son who reminds her of his dad (the fictional part).
I never really payed a lot of attention to the lyrics for sex type thing for a long time and once I did it kinda freaked me out |

Definitely think your right about the stage part. But We Die Young has nothing to do with rocking out-Jerry wrote it after seeing kids who were like 13 dealing drugs. |
