Love this song, it's very catchy! Definitely about a breakup or a lost relation with a friend. Anyway. I tried translating it. It's very rough, but this is the basic meaning. I know very little German, but I tried X3 my eyes look weary and fail to find comfort i cannot look anymore at it--i am gone everything was once here--i can't find anything in me everything's gone--it's all such an illusion more and more i disappear i'm not myself if you're not with me- i am alone and this is what left of me is remaining- i don't want to be me outside the sky hangs turned away and on your wall the suicide note/farewell letter (don't know, i'm assuming farewell letter) i am not myself if you're not with me- i am alone i don't know who i am anymore, or what is still important that all went where you are without you through the night i can find nothing more in me this is what you made of me (? i got confused with the translation here, not sure if it's right) i see myself disappear more and more i'm not myself if you're not with me- i am alone and this is what left of me is remaining- i don't want to be me outside the sky hangs turned away and on your wall the suicide note/farewell letter i am not myself if you're not with me-i don't want to be here much longer i fade slowly stop me from fading more i'm simply not myself anymore it's perfect where you are- come and rescue me i'm not myself if you're not with me- i am alone and this is what left of me is remaining- i don't want to be me outside the sky hangs turned away and on your wall the suicide note/farewell letter i am not myself if you're not with me-i don't want to be here much longer i don't want to be here much longer i don't want to be here much longer It came out a little strange but it's the basic idea. So yeah, I pretty much agree with icantdance435, though it could apply to a friendship as well. |

Okay, this is a literal translation for those who asked. I, in no way, claim to be good at German since I am teaching myself. (Hey, but this helped me learn a bit more!) But going pretty much word-for-word, this is what the translation is: We ran through the city In no place more recognizable There is no place we weren't once already We tried everything But our freedom ends here We must now go through this wall Shift your weight The abyss can't see you here (? not sure about this, but abgrund=abyss, right?) Attention, ready, let's go Before us, the sky breaks apart We create it together Over the end of the world We leave it all behind us We look back again This is the last glimpse Of all that was forever there Come, keep breathing once again It can be the beginning We grasp the morning near us Shift your weight The abyss can't see you here Attention, ready, let's go Before us, the sky breaks apart We create it together Over the end of the world We leave it all behind us Leave it all behind you There's nothing left to lose Everything is behind us We can't stop further up (also unsure of this part! It didn't make much sense to me...the up part) Shift your weight, Look me in the face Attention, ready, let's go Before us, the sky breaks apart We create it together Over the end of the world We leave it all behind us So, there you have it. Sorry if it doesn't make sense to you, but I tried. Also, as with many languages, certain things could have a different meaning there. Anyway, as Bill himself said, this song is about going through life with a good friend or lover and getting past all the obstacles life throws at you ;) Great song, and I love the video to this one, too. |
