Black Lips – Spidey's Curse Lyrics 14 years ago
MarcusH - You are correct. Here is bit from an article on the band...

"On the more conventional tunes, innumerable childhood relics activate the frolicking foursome. Recalling a more demure version of the Ramones, “"Spidey’s Curse”" brings jangled Byrds guitar lattice to the front of an innocently annotated ode.

Swilley recalls, “"In fourth grade, we were issued Spider-Man comic books. [Marvel mastermind] Stan Lee drew them. But we wondered why our school allowed a book where there was a bizarre Peter Parker molestation taking place to be read. The song sounds happy, but it’s about Spider-Man’s pre-super power molestation."”

Frank Turner – Worse Things Happen At Sea Lyrics 15 years ago
gwyngwyngwyn - Even though you wrote this two years ago, you are still a douche. Honestly, I hope that you were just trolling, because if you were not then it is you who is the idiot.

Say Anything – The Presidential Suite Lyrics 17 years ago
I find it funny. I never once even thought of Bush when I heard this song, but yet; this song has intense meaning to me.

I came out of Christianity when I was about 35 or so (after "serving Christ" for nearly 20 years). I heard this song and it touched me.

You've been led on
Yes you were wrong
The whole time

That is how I felt. It's amazing that this song, line by line, can describe as clear as day how I felt that I was wronged by Jesus. That the whole thing was a lie.

NOW, with that said. It is a song about Bush (not Jesus). A great song, none the less.

Let's see what Max has to say...

MN: And you’ve got a song called 'The Presidential Suite’ (ridiculing Bush-voters). Is this a topic you want to run with?

Max: I don’t know. I mean a lot of the songs I write are about the political climate or the social-political climate more so. I guess that’s the only one that’s directly about him. I can’t think right now but I feel that I’ve written other songs about it. It’s obviously something I’d be open to writing about again.
