| Fleet Foxes – Ragged Wood Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Hi, I live in Galway, Ireland, and there's an ancient wood called Coole park where W.B. Yeats used to stay as a guest of his friend Lady Gregory. The woods and it's lake were an inspiration for Yeats so his poem Ragged wood may well be about coole. When I first heard this song it reminded me of these woods. His initials among other writers and poets can still be seen carved into an old beech tree in the park. This song also reminds me of Wouldn't it be nice by the beach boys. Its got the same theme of a hope for love, and it bounces along like the Beach Boys song. " Lie to me if you will" I think he means, tell me you still love me even if it's a lie. |
