Down in the hole Jesus tries to crack a smile beneath another shovel load
=
Jesus is trying to smile as he keeps digging a larger hole to accommodate for our sins.
The things he is hearing and seeing = The Song of Songs. He's thinking he's hallucinating, but realizes he's not. Yes, 100% about Revelations. Imo ofc.. |

He's trying to convey to the listener to not allow yourself to be assimilated by the corporate "beast". Which is pretty hard since most people are already assimilated. Break the mold. Dare to live without molds! This "beast" has the reigns.. Materialism, Capitalism.. same thing really - these things allow the beast to thrive.. Our culture is built on such ideas. It may make you wonder, if you actually open up the bible and read it.. Praise God! I'm not really a bible thumper. But I have faith. Knowledge of his word is the only power that matters. Without it, we would not be what we are today. Great song!!! |

Wow nice link gajaupunk. This song is speaking pure reality. This is war between light and dark, no matter which way you want to view it - it is truth. This song is just trying to let you know, We're already dead. |

| Filter – Where Do We Go From Here Lyrics

Sounds like another failed romance. She cheats on him and is very good at hiding it, however he eventually finds out. It makes him want to go away. (suggestive of suicide when in conjunction with the "shiny gun") Ultimately, they still love each other. He then wonders and asks.. "Where do we go from here?"
One of my fav Filter songs. |

It's about a relationship. It's about being dependent on / worshiping something. It's up to you what you worship. Most worship themselves, from what I've observed. I'm sure some addicts can relate to this song as well. Good soundin band :) |

The theme is the same. The two songs say the same thing in different words, but yeah they sound different. |

The human condition translated into a song. Fear of death. What if there is no god? Fear of it all ending.. fear of nothingness. Standing against the fear (dark) is all you can do.. that or give in or let go or whatever term you prefer.. Imo Cornell is very pragmatic. Morello's talent is simply amazing.. |

IMO he's talking about the warmongers currently alive. Like George W. Bush. I just realized their name is politically influenced. Slaughter the poor to feed the rich. Indeed! |

Your words still serenade me,
Your lullabies won't let me sleep
I've never heard such a haunting melody
Oh, it's killing me
You know I can barely breathe

It could easily be seen as biblical by the lyrics. But shortasiandude confirmed what I had thought about it before I had a chance to google it. I'm listening to it thinking "yeah right" just like he is while he's singing "you're coming back to me".. The sky opening up is him losing her, the mountains crashing into the sea is their reunification - despite what everyone says/thinks about them together. |

It's the wanting to satisfy part. I translate this line into "Come get some strange" Also it could imply cheating. The 'differently' part being the exclusion (or from another song, execution) of their current partner. imo.. |

Song seems to be about being in love with lust. Sex-addiction. The side story is what got him there. He was in love with this girl and she turned into a sex addict. So he did too. |

A boy and girl fall in love. The girl falls in love with someone else (or thinks she does) , and leaves him. When she realizes what she really feels, it is too late. So she keeps on her journey, while he keeps his pride. When the water turned to wine, it never feels the same. True love traded for superficial love. Why drink the wine.. when the water will sustain you?
Anyway, that's just how I see it. |

| Nine Inch Nails – All the Love in the World Lyrics

I think when he asks "Why do you get all the love in the world" , he's directing his question to his lost love - whom he still loves.. "It looks as though the past is here to stay
I've become a million miles away" He tries to find the love again but no one will do. Why does she get all his love? Why can't he find someone else to share it with like she so does so easily? He's living in the past - a million miles away.. and when he sees her, hope sparks again - the old feelings come alive - he comes alive. Of course.. my interpretation is pretty much the way I feel..
Trent is a lyrical genius in any case. |
