This song is about the struggle within. "Hello, hello remember me? I'm everything you can't control" refers to the part of the self that is running rampant on your life. By "remember[ing] who you really are," you can "do...what you want." Amy Lee sings that "Somewhere beyond the pain, There must be a way to believe we can break through" Great message, great song. |

i think alovelyfadeout's depression idea seems realistic minus the title (not sure where that would play in). i believe the first verses are from the prospective of the depressed, lamenting the fact that no one cared that he didn't show up to wherever "there" is...i'm not sure what the "there" is supposed to represent, though. it may be something as simple as a social engagement/get together with others. the next part is someone who views the depressed as childish, hence "You know what's gonna happen / He's gonna go down and he's gonna / Come back again" "Sad I'm gonna die..." is pretty self explanatory for "They'll tie me up and send me off / to set me off on someone's lawn" i like the idea about the cremation/being sent off in a rocket (kind of an amusing concept lol) this song, if interpreted in the way i said, seems akin to many odes of teenage depression/thoughts of death, which is why i'm hesitant to assume that's what it is, as pinback's lyrics are so often very deep and abstract. beautiful song either way |
