Wow I don't usually like fall out boy that much but i heard this song on a music channel like weeks ago and it really stood out to me. ok i do not think this song is about donnie darko at all, its clearly a reference to Donny Hathaway and Roberta Flack and their professional relationship. this song looks at mental illness alot, as Donny Hathaway had schizophrenia didn't he? and depression i think. i think this is a comparison to Pete's bipolar disorder. anyways i'm not sure if someone's already siad this but the lines "I got troubled thoughts And the self-esteem to match What a catch, what a catch" i think who ever wrote the song (patrick or pete?) are saying "what a ctach" sarcastically as in who would want to be in a relationship who had a mental illness (troubled thoughts) and depression and low self esteem. i really like this song, i think alot of people may be able to relate to it alot |

ok i'm just putting it out there- i think this song is about Katy Perry. Origionally i thought this song was about an ex boyfriend or something (and not George Bush because I thought Lily Allen wouldn't be another stupid musician who thinks they know how the world should be run, even though they know jack about politics- and this was portrayed very well by Russell Brand as Aldous Snow) anyways I was listening to it today and it kind of reminds me of that fight Katy Perry and Lily Allen had, where Katy said something like "Lily allen sounds like me except i'm skinnier" then it turned into a big fight . anyways the lyrics seem like a bit of a piss take- with the gay references and homophobia (as katy has a song called "you're so gay" and of course "i kissed a girl" which has been panned as homophobic) and things like "your words don't translate" and "no one wants your opinion" seem like bitchy comments to another song writer. anyways thats just my humble thoughts |

I think everyone is getting a bit too carried away by this song. its really not that great. and giving britney credit for this song- yeah i'm pretty sure she didn't write it. this song irritates me (who goes "haha hehe haha ho?? its like that pathetic giggle at the start of gimme gimme more)britney has never been able to sing, so we can't give her credit for good vocals either, she is such a has been who's trying to make it big again by singing skanky songs. and IF YOU SEE KAY has been around for years, i heard kids say that when i was at school, so putting amy on the end isn't exactly a stroke of genius. |

wow the interpretation before mine is a bit far out, quite interesting. I originally thought this song was about one night stands, but after reading the lyrics I think its more to do with identity crisis, and this guy is looking for himself (and having one night stands along the way). anyways thats my opinion, I also think Liam Finn looks like a bush ranger, not saying thats a bad thing I kinda dig the beard. This boy has talent, I think he's gonna be big and on his own merits. Go Liam! Woo |

I remeber I used to cry when this song came on when I was a kid because i always thought it was about a kid who's best friend was a crocodile. i always thought "But the years went by and the rock just died" was "the years went by and crock just died" and being an animal lover this used to upset me so much! Now I know its about rock music ect, but i still don't really like to listen to it lol! probably the only elton john song i don't like |

I love how the beginning of the song is just so melancholy and beautiful, and it expresses times and emotions that we can all relate to, and then just gets all about dracula. if anyone has seen "interview with a vampire" this song relates to brad pitt's character... except for the van helsing part, i don't think he was in that movie. I love forgetting sarah marshall and this song just makes it that much more of an original movie. |

I think its very funny if what foxcub said was right- that everyone is getting up-in-arms about mmm mmm mmm when all it was was the singer eating soup. I love this song because of the deep baritone its sung in. I really don't think its about abuse, and i think everyone is just so quick to try and find deeper meaning in this song. I think its either a bunch of metaphores for people judging one another or crazy religions or sucky stuff that happens to teenages and is left open for people making up their own minds about it, or it is just a story being told and the lyircs are exactly what they mean (which is what i personally think it is). and i think the film clip shows this: its a play, the singer is narrating and its just 3 stories being told. |

I've always thought this song was about unrequited love. The voice of the song is in love with this woman and although it seems as though they are in a relationship or starting one, his deep feelings for her are not returned. instead its almost as if she is using him and he seems quite nieve. In this sence the song seems almost a little seedy, but still very beautiful |
