| I think the guy is just out of a bad relationship, and it broke his heart. Clearly he feels the girl didnt try enough or she was never fair in the relatiosn ship "take take everything that wasnt even yours". She just took and took and that just broke them apart. He feels he just wasted his time with her "all these wasted years". He has known for a long time that the relationship was going nowhere "so long i had to bit my tongue" but he gave up cause she left him. She maybe was unfaithful and lied "won't won't believe another word that you say" and after she took all and ended the relationship she kicked when he was down "keeping me down when i hit that floor". So the relationship ended in a fairly bitter way and he says "hope that you choke on the lines". He also is asking if she regrets leaving or wasting all those years but in the end he just concludes that "breakin's what the heart is for". That's just what i think anyways =P. | |

I think that he is singing to both himself and his ex. Like pretty much everyone said this girl must've dumped him and he is hurt and wants to hurt her back. But from the video we see he plays two roles, the 9-5 worker and the rockstar. They both are taunting eachother about would could have been. The rockstar is happy with his life but looking back on his life and who he could have been(the 9-5 guy) he wants the girl that the 9-5 worker has, so when he sees his face it "gives him hell" because he is in love with the girl that he the 9-5 guy is dating and although he is happy with his life he would trade it all for that girl. So he is saying to himself, kinda, "when you see my face hope it gives you hell" because they both want what the other has, if ya know what i mean =P. So, in the end they both end up happy as he gets the girl and the 9-5 guy gets to live the rocker lifestyle. So the rocker has the right life but wrong girl and the 9-5 guy vice versa. |
