I'm a bit confused by some parts of this song so I'm not too sure about my interpretation. So the young girl is accused of being a witch and is killed, now at the beginning of the song she says; "Remember when I told you how my Kin is different in some ways? And how you should not fall in love With someone like me" Well I take it she is saying she's different because she's really a witch. "In my home town No one's safe now" I think it means that after she is accused and killed others will start getting blame for things and accused as well of witchcraft and then killed. In the "Envy" part TimeWeaver explained it very well except that for me in this part the girl was already dead and by now they had already started picking on others and so they decide accuse the girl's lover for having better crops than the rest of witchcraft. "In their fear stricken hearts, Seeing skyclad's a sign like the Deathaura" They are so afraid that anything they find or see unusal they thing is bad and blame it on witches. "The Grudge" confuses me because I don't know who is talking there and who is the one saying "I am truly the One ...Behind it all..." I don't think is the girl because I'm sure she dies in [Exposing The Heathen] and if it was the girl why didn't Johanna sing that part? In [The Flames] obviously someone is getiing burned, it could be the girl but again since I beleive the girl to be dead already I was thinking it was the guy. "Unless morning finds all of them somehow hexed..." I think this line is sarcastic because I thik what it saying is "unless in the morning they have all snap out of it and stop freaking out about everything" which is unlikely. In [...Together, Today, For All Eternity] the guy is dead and so he and the girl will be together for eternity in death. "I remember how you told me, Your kin's different, on that sunny day?" "You made me smile, 'cause I was just about to say the same thing..." They are both dead by now and together so they are chatting in the after life and he just confessed to her that he was also into witchcraft so he was different as well. "But they paid someone to say their torment has a name" Someone was promised a reward if it brought forth who or what was causing problems in the town since something was to blame for babies crying, bad crops, and colorful lines in the skys, and so it all began. "And after all these years we get to be together for all eternity..." Yeah, they are dead. Also one of the things that led me to believe that she dies in [Exposing The Heathen] is this line that is reapeted several times "I hear her in the wind, the bane of our town" and this as well "And until I get my peace I'm but a shade..." I love this song and the story is so sad. |

It is part of the saga since Tony said it in a interview; he said in this song Caleb met his maker. Anyway I always thought that Caleb had killed the girl in "Don't say a word" so I was confused by these lines; "But why do you smile? ...Don't smile Don't you smile You're supposed Wither away with me, so, Juliette Please don't smile I'm paralysed and you are still alive." But what I'm starting to think is that he probably hurt her or did something to her on "Don't say a word" and he thought that she was dead or that she was going to die, I think is more of the latter. So on this song he decides to commit suicide to die with her but as he is dying he realizes that she's still alive and probably will stay that way. Btw this line always makes me giggle but I can't explain why, "I'm a restless soul, I'll make the best ghost" |

| I love love love this song! I know is a love song but I'm not sure he and she are humans, I get the vibe that he's a god and she is something else or they are both gods or they are some mythological characters. So he's confesing his love her but I'm not sure if they do end up together or if she leaves him after one time. | |

I like this song it has made cry and I considere a song that makes me cry, really good =p. I think is just a couple having problems but he is telling her that is not really her fault is just him having some personal issues but it seems she doesn't understand what his issues are so that causes more problems although he isn't making it any easier. "I take my hat off, bow before the greatness You're so much braver I give you credit for" I think that here is where he's telling her is not her fault by complementing her and calling her brave. She probably wants to keep trying and save the relationship and that's why he calls her brave, maybe? "Somehow the Grays create a harmony And no color can add a flavor..." The relationship has probably become monotonous and boring. "Know the face, familiar stranger" Since their relationship has become strain they probably feel like strangers living under the same roof. "I'm not a child, I feel misunderstood" He is clearly stating he has issues, and since they feel like stragers they don't understand each other. "I built a bridge, you use the tunnel..." They don't spend much time together, they go their separate ways "- The rope we are pulling is slipping away from me" He's not really trying to save the relationship, so this life that he has with her is slipping away. "I can not control my life anymore Feel a need to leave and breathe on my own I remember all the broken songs of our life Maybe one more wrong will make it all right... I just really need to be alone now..." Here he gives a bit of hope that maybe things will get better but he'll look into that once he sorts his life out. |

| Worthless wishes, you are not the only one. The first time I heard this song Peter Pan came to mind. I don't think the song is about Peter Pan but I do think it uses its idea and concept to represent something else, something about Tuomas. | |

Maybe I'm not looking at wider picture but this is what first came to mind when I read the lyrics; I think the song is about her and what happened with the band, unlike "walk along" which she said it wasn't a response to the band. And here is why I believe this song deals with what the band said about her and how she felt and dealt with it. “Ego selfish Prima Donna Dancing in your poisoned cage Thinking that your consciences clearer If you drink your dreams away” In thins part she is refering to what the band said about her on the letter, that she was a diva and so on. "Had enough symphonies of sorrow The beast of prey a breath away Masterpiece of treachery" The chorus is her saying that she doesn't want to sing anymore of Tuomas' music. "masterpiece of treachery" I guess is that she felt she was betrayed by the band for firing without any previous notice, the masterpiece could be either the conjuction of all the years they were together and the music they did, or it could be that final moment they had at their last concert. "Built a wall and made me crumble Just because I am in love" How all the blame they did was towards the one she loves, her husband for changing her. Or if it were true what some say then she might be refering to being fired and put in the position she was placed for loving someone who was not...well you know who. "Don't you cry now look at all the Dolls and toys that you have got" This might be saying to Tuomas not to lament that he doesn't have her (in the band), the dolls and toys might be refering to the rest of the members or to the fans that still follow them and took their side but don't support her anymore. "Kept my thoughts buried in a box With each shot I still kept it locked" Here she is saying that she didn't attack back and said things that might have put them to shame and embarrase them? Because that's probably how she felt about the things they said on the letter that perhaps it should have been kept quiet and between them not told to the world. "You drew a play written with my blood Went ahead just to feed the lot" Here she might be refering to the song "Bye Bye Beautiful" and "feed the lot" might again be refering to the fans. Or maybe is just a love song about a woman who loves a man who is too caught up in himself to see that she loves him, and too concited and uptight to love someone like her. And for the record I support both Nightwish and Tarja, the description above is just an interpretation, I'm trying to see the song through Tarja's eyes, I'm not trying to make Nightwish look bad. |
